(And yes, I spent far too long structuring that gag).

Just read about the grim word salad that was the Tory leader’s conference speech earlier today. Oh dear. She really should stick to meteorological-monitoring social media: Kemi Badenoch’s Windsock TikTok.

Hard agree. O Shudder is an astonishing album.

Also, I note that - whilst searching for the 9 albums thing - that a few gents have posted this with a photo of their cocks. Men, huh?

I vividly recall the impact it had on me the first time I saw it. An astonishing movie - so pleased it's (finally) getting the respect it deserves.

Finally. I've been waiting ages for Lawrence from Felt to have a podcast.

I'll be at all three. I'm approaching it like I would do community service, but without the hi-viz.

Had a dream last where @derrymick.bsky.social was dressed as a giant fox, ordering me to leg it to Monorail to buy beer and an angry record…

Sleeper were very uninteresting, I'd suggest. But the Elvis Costello cover of this track - it's sublime youtu.be/VuJJBJHDUcY?...

Jack Hargreaves from How/Out of Town. Was meant to be giving us a talk on fishing, but instead started waxing lyrical about how great condoms were. He died shortly after.

NEW post: "Cowboys opens the 2nd album. The record is tougher and darker. It's gritty enough that you could fill a truck with it and keep the roads safe - a signal they could move away from their smoother side demonstrated on 'Dummy'.” 10 top #Portishead tracks www.toppermost.co.uk/portishead/

I hope he expressed his florid opinions on the topic in some deatail. On one of those ‘Who Remembers Shops?’ shows on Channel 5.

As this conversation is gaining some traction, who’s the best minor celebrity you’ve seen looking a bit grumpy in or near some shops? Have you, too, spotted Griff Rhys Jones looking pensive in Habitat on Tottenham Court Road?

You forgot Elaine C Smith, who once looked at me a bit funny outside Morrisons in Patrick. Good times.

There’s nowhere better than a pub in Scotland during an Old Firm game. All those sweaty, angry-looking middle-aged bald men in shorts and white socks, as if they have a PE lesson after their anger management course. 5 stars, would recommend.

You haven't lived until you've smoked crack with Rhea Perlman in a multi-storey car park (other cast members of Cheers are available).

I once sat behind Sir John Curtice at a Vivaldi recital. He played an imaginary harpsichord throughout. He plays a mean imaginary harpsichord.

This is a huge loss. The Skinny we’re always happy to publish my weird and lengthy music utterings. I real gap in the Scottish (and wider) cultural scene.

(Oslo record stores also have Norwegian Death Metal sections almost as big as the rock and pop aisles. Not my genre, but I kinda approve).

Yesterday I walked through Oslo city centre from end to end. Today did something similar in a large, British city. One was clean, tranquil, green, cultured, predominately free from traffic, and generally just pleasant to be in. The other is a city in the UK.

This "state of mind" / comfy sofa sonic epiphany thing should be a huge thread (mine = Les Fleurs by Minnie Riperton, after swallowing something I no doubt shouldn't have).

Minty! There's a band who've been completely forgotten (outside of the Leigh Bowery Fan Club, anyway). "Interesting" stage attire, if I recall correctly.

Hard agree. It's a great slasher film where a woman outwits the men. Nothing further needed.

Just watched (on your recommendation). None of it came as a shock - and there are 100s of Gales even now - but the crushing inevitability of her story was so powerful.

Ooh, plot twist: Turns out it's Princess Di haunting him. A fact they discovered around the Ouija whilst all wearing her underwear he stole, or something. (Fun fact: my eldest was born the moment Diana died. We named him Diana because respect).

Jolly good. Celebrity Help! My House Is Haunted is starting on Channel 44. "Princess Diana's former butler, Paul Burrell, reports ghostly noises and activity in his home. Could someone be contacting him from beyond the grave?" I certainly hope so. Arthur Askey, ideally.

It's a non-story, fuelled by Farage's need for victimhood and elements of the media's wilful disregard of context, and it's a pity a serious news show spent 20 mins on this.
