Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (Wayland/KDE/KWin → PipeWire → Sunshine) → Tailscale → MacBook (Avahi → Moonlight) → RetroArch/Snes9x — confirmed working, live, with audio. #LinuxLearning #HeadlessServer #Ubuntu #Emulator #Streaming

It took two weeks, but it's done. Probably the most exhausting and ambitious project I've taken on, charting unfamiliar territory the whole way: Linux, streaming, GPUs, drivers, on and on. I can now run an emulator on my headless server and stream it over my Tailscale network to my Mac. #Linux

YES! You get me 🫶🏽 😂 and very much so! Although - due to lack of capability - it would be a group of decisions - as in, multiple moves made by the player being bundled, categorized, measured and sent to the locally hosted LLM to return what can accurately be labeled as influence over the gamebot

🎉 Sweet, sweet victory. The GPU is reading a fake EDID file, believing a real monitor is plugged into a headless server. That sweet game visual data finally has somewhere to go. One more piece locked in for the game library streaming build. #Linux #SelfHosted #HeadlessServer #GameServer #Gaming

Next goal on the locally hosted LLM journey: expose inference to public use. How? Pong, of course. Controlled vehicle for LLM input: play Output: meaningful engagement #LinuxHomeLab #LLM #PlayPong

My self-hosted Linux server is now running LLMs locally. Benchmarked 8 models across Meta, Microsoft, Google, Mistral AI, and Alibaba's Qwen, comparing speed, VRAM fit, and accuracy. Qwen won at every size, fastest and zero errors. Breakdown → tinyurl.com/llmtrials #LLM #Linux #CLI

Thank you for the resource! I've got a headless linux server and wanted to run it all through the CLI - so no GUI - it's actually led me to be more hands and learn a lot more about different models, VRAM vs RAM, learning to optimize inference, etc.

we are actually up and running - huge milestone to have an LLM running locally on a comp that was collecting dust less than two weeks ago but now is a full-on linux headless server remotely accessible from anywhere with an internet connection. #LLM #Linux

Installed Ollama. Started seeing an erorr on start up. Uhoh. It was detecting a GPU I didn't even know was there. Harmless but If it wasn't for the error, I wouldn't have even known a GPU was on the machine. VRAM is useful for running LLM inference. Fix the error. Claim VRAM. #toerror #Linux #LLM

Wrote my first systemd service to resolve WoL issue. Tailscale gave the server + both Macs their own private network. Scoped SSH down from wide open to just trusted IPs. Stress tested the hardware. Next: ollama pull llama3.1:8b. Full post → tinyurl.com/4ahw3ryx 🐧🦙 #llm #selfhosted

got it - very cool -yeah, so ollama is the plan, theoretically, but I haven't fully explored the HOW just yet, I'll report back once I get it up and running! Excited that this is going to be a little different than your experience - hopefully I can contribute to your learning in some small way. TY!

hey, thanks for the response. I haven't made it that far yet so unsure of the what the hosting sofware will be but excited to explore the options and find a good fit. Also, could you elaborate more on your hosting methods and what is "DE's" specifically? Thanks!

Making progress on my #AWS Cloud Practitioner cert, but while studying I came across a networking module. I could follow what was being taught, but deep comprehension wasn't there - needed to understand the underlying fundamentals - found a free CCNA course on networking basics, and WOW, I am elated

The hierarchy in Go has been one of the most challenging things within the language structure to understand. Things calling other things and different things and round and round we go LOL, it's a lot but it's been very rewarding to dig deeper into.
