Laura Wilkes @lawkim.bsky.social · 03/01/2025@tracychevalier.bsky.social another excellent read! Thank you for your meticulous research and damn good storytelling. I came across this little gem at the library, remember to support your local library and get fabulous books like this for free 😊 170
Laura Wilkes @lawkim.bsky.social · 03/01/2025Been laid up with a wrenched muscle in my back so read this straight through in two days and it was a damn good read! In my 40s when I was desperately unhappy I took up long distance walking and this book resonated with me on so many levels, definitely recommend this @phoebesmith.bsky.social 0102
Laura Wilkes @lawkim.bsky.social · 27/12/2024True. And the Board at ESNEFT should be ashamed of themselves for outsourcing services such as housekeeping, portering and catering in the face of clear evidence which says outsourcing results in poorer care for patients and less job satisfaction for hard working NHS staff. 062
Laura Wilkes @lawkim.bsky.social · 27/12/2024In the UK, or at least the bit where I’m from, we call these ginger nuts. No idea why. I’m not a huge fan of ginger generally but I love these dunked in a cuppa. 010

He is a grifter and a conman. He does not represent the vast majority of Britons. Repost if you agree P.s. multiculturalism is great. 44775443550
Laura Wilkes @lawkim.bsky.social · 27/12/2024I’ve just discovered it and it’s amazing, I use the moisturiser and I’ve just bought a smaller size to use as a hand cream. It rubs in beautifully, isn’t oily and leaves my skin so soft. Great product. 110
Laura Wilkes @lawkim.bsky.social · 27/12/2024Fun day planned, heading down to the coast to check out two record shops and a few antique shops and a nice stroll along the (probably very foggy) promenade. Whatever you have planned, have a lovely day 040
Laura Wilkes @lawkim.bsky.social · 27/12/2024As someone who was veggie for 9 years then started eating meat again, I can assure you it’s not the sprouts at all but the meat feast that’s is Christmas dinner. If you don’t eat meat, no idea where your methane is coming from 😁 I’m now at the stage of craving fruit lol 110
Laura Wilkes @lawkim.bsky.social · 22/12/2024Already playing with our Christmas present, me and me fella treated ourselves to a turntable and very decent Bluetooth speaker, currently enjoying some old British blues, plucked from the bargain bin at a local record shop. I think vinyl will be our new obsession 😁 040
Laura Wilkes @lawkim.bsky.social · 21/12/2024I think that’s stunning, and actually very accomplished to achieve that kind of depth of colour with watercolours 👏👏👏 110

Laura Wilkes @lawkim.bsky.social · 20/12/2024Well, this is nice after a bumpy week. Non-working Friday afternoon, enormous cuddly cat on my lap, lovely cup of decaf and a book about the history of art. I should be wrapping Christmas presents but I’ll do me instead 😊 040
Laura Wilkes @lawkim.bsky.social · 20/12/2024I used to journal like crazy, for years, then I suddenly stopped. I’m not sure why but perhaps I realised I needed to do something to change my life rather than just write about wanting change. A friend has gifted me a lovely notebook and I just can’t think what to do with it, how I can use it well 010
Laura Wilkes @lawkim.bsky.social · 20/12/2024What a wonderful photo of an extremely courageous woman 130
Laura Wilkes @lawkim.bsky.social · 13/12/2024I suppose I’d want to know who else was in the running? Also, this is not necessarily a ringing endorsement is it? Although he undoubtedly would see it that way as he can’t get past his own inflated ego. 000
Laura Wilkes @lawkim.bsky.social · 13/12/2024The patriarchy is alive and well 😡 the more empowered people feel to speak out the more you realise how much misogyny is entrenched in western society. We can fight this as women, but we need our more enlightened men as allies to call it out. 1140

Laura Wilkes @lawkim.bsky.social · 08/12/2024Decided to prioritise drawing over chores this morning, a habit I really must cultivate, and re-drew my favourite jug. It’s been months since I worked on my pencil skills and I haven’t got the top of the jug right, but I thoroughly enjoyed drawing it. Now to revisit oil pastels 😁 040
Laura Wilkes @lawkim.bsky.social · 05/12/2024Feeling exhausted today, been a bit under the weather all week and today we held our quarterly (they should be more frequent!) bargaining and negotiating forum. Started prickly but managed to warm it up halfway through. Shouldn’t be this hard though to look after our people 000

Laura Wilkes @lawkim.bsky.social · 05/12/2024Just finished The Witches of Vardo by Anya Bergman, fictional account of the awful witch trials that occurred on the Norwegian island of Vardo in the 1600s. Grim reading but beautifully poetic too with plenty of myth and folklore. Need something a bit lighter now though! 110

Laura Wilkes @lawkim.bsky.social · 27/11/2024Please be kind. 12 weeks ago I started on a beginners art course. I had zero experience having not studied art at school. I’ve learned so much about colour, mixing and different formats. This is my final piece of a sea scape and tall ship, in acrylic. I’ve already signed up for next term 😁 340

Laura Wilkes @lawkim.bsky.social · 23/11/2024<sigh> well, meeting my new MP last night was a disappointment.
