I went to a college with a snobby English dept. When I wanted to write my big freshman paper on Steinbeck, I was told that just wasn't done. Ended up doing some Scandinavian Nobel winner. I guess Steinbeck's Nobel didn't count.

I support this. I grew up in a city of 50K people and we had 3 municipal outdoor pools. We lived there all summer long for 10-20 cents a day. Saint Paul has over 300K people and 2 outdoor city pools.

😂 The Blueair 211i Max running in my living room was purchased because my late mother was a smoker and one of her caregivers had asthma. I snagged it when we cleaned out the house. When staying over, I'd wake up in the furthest from her bedroom and it was like a 70s bar at closing time.

It is, but the city is mostly "served" by SPPD, not the county sheriff. We just get to pay for both. I also have long-standing issues with Sheriff Bob in that he is insane, but nobody else wants to be the sheriff apparently.

They have a schedule; they plant in one section of the city per year. So it may be several years before your neighborhood is on the schedule. We got a permit (free) and bought and planted our own blvd replacement trees.

Kids did not go on expensive field trips in the 70s. the big one for Girl Scouts was to take a school bus the 60 miles from LaCrosse to Prairie du Chien to visit the robber baron mansion Villa Louis and the Fort Crawford Museum of Medical Progress. I think I did that one 2 different times.
