I swear I've been working on a ton of spooky art but I can't share any of it until the project gets released but in the meantime here's a spooky-themed self portrait! I gotta get some Halloweeny art started

I don't like them I'm sorry no think pieces I've read today have convinced me Link isn't an uncanny nightmare child

I'm watching it for the first time! It was one of those series that was big that I just didn't get to because my flavor of shojo was usually fighting magical girls. Even without ever watching it it feels soooo nostalgic

I absolutely was out there making MSN hot page sites for Tokyo Mew Mew and Yugioh! without a care in the world. Making pages with with worst color choices because I was 11 and didn't understand readability in web design. No idea how to edit a photo #takemeback

I found an ancient Full Moon wo Sagashite fansite from around 2005 and there is such joy in old anime fan sites from that era. Genuinely so nostalgic reading old character pages and anime galleries and about sections on the site admin. The internet used to be good

Found an old thumbnail for an illustration based on my slasher summer camp counselors I drew a while back and it felt like the season to take a crack at finishing it

They're gonna have to cameo in a future installment considering they've reached international internet meme status

Excited to finally share that I'm illustrating for a new book! If you're a fan of middle grade horror and choose-your-own-path stories and puzzles this is gonna be a series to watch out for! Written by the lovely @laurenmagaziner.bsky.social! (two Laurens for the price of one!)

Drawing Denny and Claudette feels like a Herculean task and idk why

Lauren Schmidt @laurenschmidt.bsky.social · 16/06/2026

I've been lucky enough to get some paid work that I can't share yet so I haven't posted art in a while but I just had to do something for the American Girl 40th anniversary. These girls have a huge place in my heart. All 20 historic girls in one place!

OoT looks less like an official Nintendo game and more like a fan-made blender test. You take my polygonal pointy nosed boy and turn him into hyper-realism? Nintendo pls

The ones saying they're animators while tearing down projects is wild cuz buddy you ain't workin on a professional production with that attitude

071

Lauren Schmidt @laurenschmidt.bsky.social · 18/05/2026

Watching how animation "fans" on Twitterdotcom engage with animation is wild like do people even actually like animation and cartoons or do they just like feeling superior as they point out their subjective gripes? It's the most miserable way to engage with something you supposedly enjoy

I feel like no one ever talks about Angelic Layer when talking about CLAMP series' but it's girls, robot dolls, and wrestling. What's more to love?

Rewatching Death Note for the first time since high school and it is very fun

Last expression sheet! Gotta sketch some vehicle designs and then gonna start working on pages

Yukino Miyazawa - Model Student, Queen of Vanity Sometimes a good ol' 90s anime is just the vibes I'm looking for

193

Lauren Schmidt @laurenschmidt.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

More expression design-work on some side characters. These were pretty fun! I really like how they turned out. I just need to do a little bit more with the two lead characters and some vehicle and bg designs and I think in March I'll be starting pencils on pages :000

Some character exploration with expressions

Lauren Schmidt @laurenschmidt.bsky.social · 06/02/2026

Some character design exercises for my project. A bunch of biker goons! Will most likely need to simplify their details/overall style but it was fun trying to get a feel for them first

031

Lauren Schmidt @laurenschmidt.bsky.social · 04/02/2026

That's kind of what I've heard. I might add it to my list of shows to watch but I'm trying to finish the last season at least. All Might's been great this season so I'm enjoying him the most

010

Lauren Schmidt @laurenschmidt.bsky.social · 04/02/2026

And then the story wants to end the final battle as a empathetic look into the villains sad tragic mind but I'm so annoyed by him that I feel nothing. Maybe you shouldn't watch MHA for the first time as a 33 year old this clearly wasn't made for me but the animation is great so I want to like it

120

Lauren Schmidt @laurenschmidt.bsky.social · 04/02/2026

"My dad was a perfectionist and an honestly shitty guy and I wanted to please his high expectations but he wanted me to stop using my powers because they were unstable. Turns out he was right, I blew myself up and almost died. Therefore I must kill my siblings and destroy Japan." Huh??

120

Lauren Schmidt @laurenschmidt.bsky.social · 04/02/2026

Trying very hard to like My Hero Academia but all the villains are like "society is corrupt and bad and ruined my life therefore it must be destroyed" but when they tell you their backstory it just proves that they 100% ruined their own life and never self reflected once

150

Lauren Schmidt @laurenschmidt.bsky.social · 04/02/2026

Truly this company just keeps showing how little it cares about it's user-base. I dropped Adobe when the AI stuff was coming out but I always hoped they'd get it together. Seems they still do not care for the creators who pay to use their programs. It's just hit after hit of untrustworthiness

030

Lauren Schmidt @laurenschmidt.bsky.social · 03/02/2026

Some prop design exploration from today

031

Lauren Schmidt @laurenschmidt.bsky.social · 26/01/2026

If I really went through my old files I could probably find soooo many Yuna & Kawachan episodes where I used that exact face from the third image in my thumbnails
