In a rare New Year's resolution, I promised myself that I would say yes to more things with my friends. Today's adventure: Seeing the Scissor Sisters and Kesha in concert. Shedding tears to "This Place About To Blow" wasn't on the bingo card. But it's 2008 and we're partying.
A group of nerds takes a selfie at the Kesha concert in golden light. The crowd raises their hands as Kesha takes the stage.

It's me! This was truly so much fun to do. I love "This News Is So Gay" and being a panelist (and the unofficial Sportsball reporter) was an absolute delight. Go listen! I accidentally wrote an "it's complicated" love letter to Indiana in the middle of the podcast.

And 16 days later, I was informed that the @ipbnews.bsky.social team (including myself) would be laid off at the end of this year. It's heartbreaking. But there's still a lot to be proud of. I'm going to have some self-indulgent grieving and then get to the business of figuring out what's next.

I've never been as comfortable as my cat, half-asleep in a sunbeam, using a cardboard box as a pillow.
A little black cat wears a purple collar. His front paw rests on a crocheted rat in a wizard hat. He's surrounded by cat toys, including a stuffed chef's knife with cartoon blood. He's laying down, but his head is propped up by a banker's box that he's sleeping on. He's very cute.

I love the em-dash = AI discourse. Friends. Enemies. Others. Every reporter I've edited in the last 14 years *loved* em-dashes. I *love* em-dashes. I once had a reporter (the only reporter who has correctly used a semi-colon in a news story) try to wedge three em-dashes into a single sentence.
