yes! we back foreign billionaire ownership of UK media / support the concentration of power in a tiny media elite / will not introduce a Social Media Levy for local news / back self-regulation of the press / won't make dark money think-tanks declare donations. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/76...

I’m aware that this is imperfect in many ways but I enjoyed myself both taking the pictures and making the image, so I’m sharing it anyway
A very wide, stitched image composed from left to right of images taken of the solar eclipse as viewed from the north of England on 12th August 2026. There are 44 images in total, which show the progression of the moon across the face of the sun. The cutout of the moon’s shadow moves from the right-hand side of the sun at the beginning to the left, and the images of the sun become steadily more orange as in reality at the time, it was moving towards the horizon.

This is an irresponsible headline and people sharing it out of context is pure fear-based engagement bait… “The Stanford researchers picked the most promising 302 AI designs and synthesised them in the lab. Of these, 16 proved effective at killing E. coli bacteria.” This isn’t a bad thing.

Trump’s suit against the BBC should be seen for what it is: an attempt to rewrite history. It’s also a bid to fill his own pockets, discredit the work of professional journalists and chill news organisations, writes Alan Rusbridger

Trump’s attack on the BBC is a harbinger of much worse to come
The BBC has its problems—but they are nothing compared to the American billionaires who control much of US media

Took an evening walk up a mountain because why not, it’s there and it’s lovely. Walk a mountain!
A very large and pleasing tree taking up most of the image, with drystone walls down the path that leads under it and a misty white sky.A ruin of a small-ish, stone-built building of some kind. There’s no roof at all, two empty windows are visible at the rear of the building and an empty doorway at the front. To the right side of the image, the wall is broken down on a diagonal, allowing a view through the space on to the back wall. There are no dividing walls or other features visible inside the building.A photo of a drystone wall taken at an angle to see it taper off slightly from right to left. The wall is thickly covered in moss and a variety of green leaves and grasses can be see at various heights growing from the ground in front of it. A close-up photo of two pink thistles in bloom.

Took an impulsive detour on our walk today and boy am I glad I did. So lucky to have space like this on my doorstep.
A landscape view of a disused railway bridge with a rectangular footway opening beneath. There are trees either side of it which have grown to well over twice the height of the bridge itself. The evening sun is shining on it from behind the photographer and it’s lit with a golden light. The sky above is clear but barely visible through the tree foliage. The floor is calf-height with grasses, weeds and a few buttercups.A landscape view of a field around sunset. There are trees to the left of the mid-ground, a group of around ten cows slightly further forward though not close enough to see detail, and then towards the right, more trees. In the background, the horizon is visible, gently uneven but not obviously hilly. The field slopes downwards from left to right, and there are some wispy clouds visible in the sky, which is pink and orange towards the right of the image as the sun is setting just out of sight.A portrait-oriented photo focusing on a single tree in a field at sunset. The ground line is around 2/5 of the way up the photo, and while there are some smaller trees in the background, one tree occupies the central third of the image. The sky is fading through light blue on the left to a slightly pink tone on the right. The tree may be an ash tree, though comments could correct this, and it is an unusual shape; whilst full and round on the left, it looks as though someone very large could have taken a bite out of it on the right. A portrait-oriented photo taken from a narrow wooden footbridge, directed over a field towards a golden sunset sky. Trees are visible in the mid-ground, and leaves hang down from the top of the photo. In the distance, some low hawthorn bushes are visible in the field as well as a tree seemingly dotted here and there. The field looks uncultivated, with a variety of grasses and wildflowers growing to roughly 2/3 the height of the fence posts. A dirt path leads away towards the right, and a black and grey spaniel is walking away from the photographer across the bridge and towards the path.
