I just got an invitation to a charity's gala event. What it was missing: ticket prices and any URL or QR code to buy tickets. What it had instead: the director of development's PHOTO, name/title and email. So focused on making sure people saw his face that he forgot the critical call to action.

While we're on @authoremmabarry.bsky.social 's Little House/Anne of Green Gables posts...I also loved the All-of-a-Kind Family books, the Noel Streatfield Ballet Shoes/etc. series, all the Judy Blume/Beverly Cleary books, Encyclopedia Brown and The Great Brain books. I was a voracious reader.

That's exactly right. And this was in the era of "very special episodes" and "afterschool specials" that dealt with things that were beyond the normal palate of network viewers. I do remember a warning before this episode.

Almost every other local govt cancelled their fireworks, saving the investment so that people could enjoy them at a later date. Blowing up fireworks that no one could actually see/enjoy is a waste of resources.

Chicago Navy Pier fireworks were a huge disappointment - too foggy to see anything. But the amazing people of Chicago who were illegally parked on LSD saved the day with their own fireworks. Solid metaphor - when govt fails, the people save the day.

We are at Summerfest in Milwaukee and Mr. Ridgefield is a marketer’s dream. Every booth, every person hawking wares…he’s 100% engaged. Of course, it does benefit me, as I’m currently sitting in the ViP area at the TMobile stage. Lol
