I’m the Canadian who was detained by Ice for two weeks. It felt like I had been kidnapped

I was stuck in a freezing cell without explanation despite eventually having lawyers and media attention. Yet, compared with others, I was lucky

I'm listening to the video now and I'm 55 minutes in. Unless I've missed something, they've yet to discuss Christian nationalism...which means IMO they're missing the boat. A big, big boat.

From what I’m reading, the EO’s don’t supersede law and the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that outlined national origin discrimination (and language access) still stands. And there’s even additional policy in education to keep it going for now…

Laura Gardner @lauragardner79.bsky.social · 03/03/2025

This is a huge blow to #languageaccess for sure! For K-12 schools however, I believe the education-specific policy still stands? For ex, the 1970 memo and the wording in Titles 1 & 3. No?

L.A. Unified, the nation’s second largest school district, has not changed its policies or practices related to a wide range of extracurricular school-based clubs. Among about 60 listed student groups at Garfield High in East L.A., for example, are the Asian-Pacific Islander Student Union, the Black Student Union, the Vietnamese Student Assn., Razas Unidas and the Gender Sexuality Alliance.
