I would also highly recommend his book, "Empire of Pain: The Secret History of the Sackler Dynasty." It's the absolutely gut-wrenching story of the Sackler family profiting off opioids. I bought the audiobook & had to take a break for a day or 2 a few times bcz of the sadness and anger it generated.

The precedent that is being set is that the division of power is critical to democracy and if the House and the Senate don't do their jobs, democracy dies and corruption takes over. Trump's power would be nothing if the House and Senate were doing their jobs.

I think they are going to hurt some 'real' people while they try to get rid of fraudsters but I do think the fraudsters are out there. I don't understand what the actual scam is (commissions for agents?) but I got ACA health ins mail for 2+ yrs for a family who doesn't/hasn't lived at my address.

It was just the weirdest damn thing & it felt like fraud. No one could get to the bottom of it. Then mailings from FL DCF started to show up. Filed a fraud report w/them, too. Very hard to find ANYONE who cared. It wasn't identity theft so it didn't really affect me other than as a taxpayer.

I called the insurance companies, the Marketplace, and the police to try to get someone to look at what seemed to be fraud. The policyholders couldn't be contacted because my address and phone number was being used on their account. One of the company fraud reps said they had never filed a claim.

Regarding the story about the government cancelling ACA policies, for almost 3 years I had ACA-related mail come to my house to people who didn't live and who had never lived at my house. My phone number was also being used because I got texts from the policies.
