FMC can see ghosts while reading tarot cards after an accident that killed her sister and MMC lost his wife to cancer. Two grief stricken people find each other while looking for a way forward after loss. Lots of yearning. A little spice and some art history thrown in more good measure.

I read The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe as a child and have been trying to find my way into a magical land ever since.

This is is my short list of life changing books as well! To be sucked into a story like this is something I'm always chasing.

Also, what have you read recently that really inspired you as a writer?

What is the most common feedback you offer to writers you work with?

"This is what love is. It’s the moment before the drop where your body registers terror and your brain registers bliss or maybe it’s the other way around. The two become so intermingled, they are indistinguishable. You plunge over the edge, not sure if you’re dying or actually finally truly living."

I LOVED The Husbands. The premise was so fun and it got pretty weird as she got deeper into the story which I loved. It has a great supporting character too which I think can really make a book. I will add The Impossible Us to my TBR!

I figured as much. I definitely have that tendency in my writing and am working on it. Those specific examples were really helpful and clear. Thanks!

Second, I'm writing a contemporary romance with a speculative premise. Are there any authors you would recommend in either fantasy or romance or something in my current lane of something in between?

I was going to ask a question getting at this! What is the most common thing you find yourself saying to a client whose work you're editing?

My #RevPit entry is a speculative romance. I was drawn to this story by the premise. How would people really respond in a world where you could know for sure if your person was "the one"? I loved exploring different angles in the characters. He falls first/opposites attract/lovers in denial.

Dual POV, first person, set in a world where you can find your soulmate with a single touch. Maggie is divorcing after her husband leaves her to find his soulmate. Aiden wants nothing more than to find his soulmate. They run into each other on the street and nothing goes the way they expect it will.

My main characters go on a (nealry failed) date at an amusement park but there's also nothing like a romance novel to put you on a roller coaster of emotion... I hope the ups and downs and twists are heart pounding.

Also, what is a current favorite book or author to give a sense of what you like to read? (I say current because asking my favorite book or author is an impossible question.)

I often struggle to read my own work and find the flaws because the story and characters are so clear in my own head that I often can't tell well if it's coming across on the page. Do you have tips for helping writers become better readers of their own stories?

Sorry to miss your session yesterday! I have a character-driven fabulist romance that I'm excited to submit to you. The premise is that soulmates exist and you can find yours with a single touch. It's contemporary dual-POV romance but with a fabulist twist. I hope it's a good fit!

I'd say not a ton. There are some world building details but the setting is contemporary. More a fabulist premise than a full tilt fantasy. If you're looking for something with stronger fantasy, then this might not be the best fit. (Get it! I love those books too!)

Just want to say our tastes are so similar! I love the Saint of Steel books! Are you open to something more contemporary romance but with a fabulist twist? (Soulmates are real and you can tell who yours is with simple touch. Also, what if you are a recent divorcee, find your soulmate, but hate him?)

I've got a fabulist romcom - soulmates are real and you can tell if someone is yours with a single touch. It's character-driven, feel good (with plenty of yearning) and dual POV. Is something like this - contemporary and less fantasy forward - of interest? Will you read all submissions?

I noticed that you like multiple POV, a hooky premise, romance. I've got em all but my fantasy is more in the premise than wide scale world building. If soulmates were real and you could find yours with a single touch, how would that change love and relationships? Fantasy forward enough for you?

Fellow teacher here! Wondering how big you like your fantasy to be? I'm submitting a romance with a fabulist plot premise (soulmates are real and you can tell who is yours with a single touch). Character-driven, emotion-forward, fantasy in the background. Does this sound interesting?
