These are averages of published living-wage estimates across each province. They can mask much larger gaps in high-cost cities: Toronto, Vancouver or Halifax may require a significantly higher living wage, meaning minimum wage covers a smaller share of actual local living costs.
Infographic comparing provincial minimum wages with average living wages in Canada.” Minimum wage covers about 67% of the average living wage in British Columbia, 72% in Alberta, 73% in Manitoba, 75% in Saskatchewan, 77% in Newfoundland and Labrador, 78% in Nova Scotia, 80% in Prince Edward Island, and 83% in Ontario. The hourly shortfalls range from 3 dollars 70 in Ontario to 8 dollars 95 in British Columbia. New Brunswick and Quebec are marked not available because a comparable provincial living wage figure wasn’t available.

Netanyahu's opening campaign pitch: an Eisenkot win might mean a Palestinian state and pulling out of "security zones." Don't threaten us with a good time. (Eisenkot's a security hawk, not a peacenik but whatever)
Reddit r/worldnews post citing jpost.com, 8 hours old, 1,636 upvotes and 285 comments. Photo of Netanyahu at a podium gesturing mid-speech, blue backdrop with Star of David graphic. Headline: Netanyahu opens his campaign, declaring the election a direct struggle between Left and Right, claiming an Eisenkot government would 'cancel all our achievements,' lead to a Palestinian state, and withdrawal from security zones.

tariff (noun) - a tax imposed by a government on goods imported from another country, usually calculated as a percentage of the good’s value

tax (noun) - a compulsory payment imposed by a government on individuals, businesses, or transactions, used to fund public spending

The division was asked to "temporarily hold off on a scheduled meeting on a specific investigation until the DOJ's antitrust team had more time to prepare," the department said.

Made me think of this one
Bright yellow meme with red and blue text featuring the Cat in the Hat from Dr. Seuss on the right side. The text reads: “GUESS WHAT? YOU’RE A SOCIALIST! a newly-discovered Dr. Seuss song:” followed by three stanzas. Each stanza asks if you like something (clean water, forests, parks; safe medicine, safe food, working brakes; schools, roads, fire trucks and police). After the first two stanzas it says “GUESS WHAT? YOU’RE A SOCIALIST!!” and after the third it says “GUESS WHAT? WE’RE ALL SOCIALISTS!!!” The meme argues that basic public services are collectively funded and therefore socialist in nature.

Happy Canada Day. Thank you, PM Carney and the Liberal team, for doing the hard things holding the line on trade, national unity, and sovereignty when it would’ve been easier to duck. Keeping this country free isn’t automatic. It takes work. Grateful for it. 🇨🇦
Carney's doing adult things: weighing pros, cons, and urgencies most of Bluesky doesn't have to hold — an Alberta referendum threat, a live trade war, and a decades-long energy transition, all at once. 'No pipelines, period' is a slogan.
Governing is trade-offs in real time.
That's the job.

PP can suck it! His rage and ability to make mountains out of molehills is getting pathetic!

Bias Comparison
• On Friday, Statistics Canada reported a surprise gain of 88,000 jobs in May, pushing the unemployment rate down to 6.6 per cent from 6.9 per cent in April.
• The rebound marks the first significant employment increase since November 2025, reversing a broader trend that saw the economy shed 112,000 net jobs during the first four months of 2026.
• Construction led industry growth with 27,000 new jobs, while wholesale and retail trade lost 35,000 positions; young workers aged 15 to 24 added 99,000 full-time roles, though youth unemployment remains at 13.4 per cent.
• Average hourly wages rose 3 per cent in May, a deceleration from 4.5 per cent in April, marking the final major economic indicator before the Bank of Canada's interest rate decision on Wednesday.
• Economists maintain that recent weakness does not meet recession thresholds despite economic growth stalling in the first quarter, as flash estimates suggest real GDP is rising again.
