My friend's name is Neemah, which is Arabic for Grace. When I wanted to have a girl the name my "would be wife" and I picked was "Grace." My "then would be wife" used to cry in the idea of naming our girl "Gracie." I beg you to cry.

To get trained and certified to do public mental health work in the community takes less or about as much time that it takes to become an ICE agent and shoot people. Community workers work tirelessly to bring dangerous people into ways they can change. ICE teaches them how to shoot people.

I am curious to know if "kick flip" is a common term. I played soccer/football since I was a kid and into my college years, and a kick flip is when you push a ball into the air with your feet. You flip it. It's like juggling. It's mostly a way to practice foot control but has no real use in games.

Finally getting around to hanging up a photo of my grandfather (maternal.) What a great man. One of my favorite parts of being a kid was going with him to pick strawberries and listening to him whistle. When I was smaller I could also ride on his shoulders. He was a WWII vet of the Armia Krajowa.

I had got to asking myself why I am so in favor of female protagonists, but then I got to thinking of two of my favorite movies growing up: Alien and The Empire Strikes Back. The picture gets clearer.

I only draw myself as women, or at least "ambiguous." I'm really not sure why. I am not "trans." I am happily cisgendered. I am not "confused." I just feel like I am better expressed. I've been doing it since childhood anyway. My profile pic, I drew that. Also gender fluid on purpose.

I really like this drawing I did. The proportions are completely off, but I drew this while I was in a psychiatric unit. It's just a sexy stormtrooper. That's really all there is to it. The hands are too big, that's just an accident.

Did you know that hummingbirds and gnatcatchers will steal spider webs to use in their nests? I just learned it and I'm honestly in shock. Like how to do steal a spider web? I touch one and I'm shaking my hands to get that shit off me. How does a bird just "steal it?"

When I was in high school none of my friends and neither did I drink. There wasn't a whole lot else to do. No internet. No YouTube. So we rented horror movies and had movie nights. This was the 90's so it's not like we were going to watch pop culture movies.

The best way to discipline a dog is shaming. "What did you do?!" "Why did you do that?!" "Did you think it was okay" And first they look ashamed, but that's kind of the point. There are some things you should never shame a dog for, peeing on a carpet is a main one. It's not their fault.

I love all your dog posts. I have always grown up around dogs, but sadly I cannot keep one where I am living currently. All kinds too. I've had pitbulls, cocker spaniels, Yorkies, German shephards... but the absolute meanest, most aggressive breed I've had is an Italian greyhound...

My mom loves hummingbirds. Ever since I was a kid we kept at least a few feeders out. And not only did we get birds, but we got the same birds and same family for years. Which is kind of amazing as during winter they were likely in Mexico, but managed to find their way back to one house come spring.

One of the most distinguishing things about dragonflies are just how ridiculously enormous their eyes are. And that's why they are such efficient predators. They eat house flies, and if you've ever tried to swat one, you know they are annoyingly fast. Not to a dragonfly.

Dragonflies are the deadliest predators by many accounts. If a dragonfly is hunting you, not actually you, you have about a 4% chance of survival. I love them because they're almost social, they will fly and land on your arm. You can even pet them if you're gentle enough. They also eat flies.

Cats are great. I sadly don't have one at this moment, but I am still a cat dad. Figure out any other animal that (like my cats did) will bite the heads off field moles, leave their headless carcass on your doormat, and then ask to be petted. And I did!

As heroes go, I was expected as an 80's child to go in for Arnold in T:2. They were never really my thing. Most of my fictional heroes were dudes, but I also loved She-Ra, Ripley (from Alien(s)), and Sydney Prescott (Scream.)

Luke and Han have both come out publicly against Trump, and maybe it's just me, but I have had no bigger heroes in my life than Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. When they talk, I listen.

It's not just for me, my fourth nephew was born with a developmental disorder, Down Syndrome is how you know it. He can speak, but barely. He's very fluent though in sign language. He signs with fluency, but speech is hard for him. Everyone in my family can sign.
