It's true that historians can file amicus briefs, but that goes for historians on both sides of an issue, and they hold no real leverage: justices remain free to cherry-pick their preferred narratives.

A former work building had one in a lounge common area. A manager moved in and claimed it for his own office, and when we moved buildings, he tried to bring it with him. The movers destroyed it though; broke the back from the base. I got permission to take and fix it, which is how I now have one 😉
