Spotify have changed how access to their API works. If you use our Spotify scrobbler on a regular basis, please take a moment to disconnect and reconnect your Spotify account. You can do this via the applications settings page here: www.last.fm/settings/app...

Thanks for your patience, the issue seems to be resolved. We suspect this may have been caused by a problem with Google Cloud platform and have raised a ticket with them.

We're currently investigating a problem preventing recent tracks and user library data from displaying on the website. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this issue.

Spotify have made a change their API, and now require everyone to reconnect their apps every 6 months. If you haven't done so already please reconnect here: www.last.fm/settings/app... More info in this post: support.last.fm/t/important-...

Hi everyone, a quick notification from us about an upcoming change to Spotify scrobbling.

Starting next week, Spotify are introducing a 6-month expiration on refresh tokens. This is to protect user accounts and ensure that "apps can only access user data when that access is still relevant and intentional."

What this means for Spotify scrobbling

Refresh tokens are used by Last.fm to access your Spotify listening data and automatically scrobble it to your Last.fm profile.

After July 20th you will need to reconnect your Spotify account to Last.fm every 6 months otherwise our access to your account will expire and scrobbling from Spotify will stop until you reconnect it again.

To get a head start on this, we are advising users to reconnect Spotify scrobbling this week.

In your application settings next to "Spotify Scrobbling", please click on the 'Disconnect' button (pictured below). It will then change to a red 'Connect' button -- click on this to refresh the connection. That's it.Can't Last.fm just refresh it automatically?

Unfortunately not; this change requires users themselves to periodically confirm that the connected apps are still "relevant and intentional", similar to how mobile devices will ask you to review the permissions of rarely used apps. This is to prevent old, forgotten apps from accessing your Spotify data indefinitely.

However, we will soon be adding reminder notifications to the website and via email so that you know when it is time to reconnect. We will also be adding a 'Reconnect' button to the settings page so that you can refresh the connection in a single click.
What if I only scrobble Spotify using the android app / web scrobbler?

This change only affects users who have Spotify scrobbling connected via the application settings.

The official Last.fm android app, Pano Scrobbler, Web Scrobbler, and similar 3rd party scrobbling apps are not affected. This is because these apps read the track metadata from your device directly, and do not connect to your Spotify account.
