I am angry tonight. Because tonight ICE shot a New Yorker. They shot a New Yorker while his five year old child was in the car. ICE makes this city less safe. We want them out. Now.

When GTA3 came out I remember talking to someone at work about how it'd be cool if our town was in it. He stared blankly at me, 'Why would it?' He was right, it was only important to me but dull otherwise. Coming up with an answer for how to make it compelling was a pivotal creative moment for me.

I once pushed a Sean Connery voice too hard while ready Fancy Nancy and my toddler daughter got upset. I'll always remember.

Just finished Penultimate Quest at @sweetshop.app, from @ironcircuscomics.bsky.social, by @larsbrown.bsky.social, @lgions.bsky.social and John Kantz. I had a great time! It occasionally reminded me of Dark Souls and Sergio Aragones. I thought the ending was uplifting and touching, right up my alley.

What is the movie that came out before you were born that you’ve watched the most times?

I'm really glad Oda did a public use of Chat Gpt really early because he was like "yeah those ideas all suck, bye"

I like the story on how he wanted translator John Nathan to help him get the Nobel but Nathan opted to work with Mishima's rival Oe. Mishima was furious and cut ties with Nathan. Nathan went on to write a biography of Mishima and traveled with Oe when he later won a Nobel.

But just like all of it when the ship sinks with the piece of the cross and you lose the holy prince's codpiece you are going to shake loose some believers and some believers are going to believe that you don't have the juice anymore. God has turned his cheeks in your direction.

The most cynical and dry take these men are indoctrinated and the aspect of this ritual helps to cement that indoctrination. It is less coming to find truth or to make an event happen and more coming to believe something is true. It is religion for Nationalism here. For your own side it feels good.

Miracles are these amazing things but both miracles and Saints are confirmed looking backward. God is just a random event. The opposite of rituals, spells and prayers to make something happen. More ludicrous when I heard an ex-Satanist talk about sacrifices for the elite. Oh, God allows that too?

When I was much more devout but also wanting to write fantasy comics I started to study magic to a degree. I wanted to see where it met up with Christianity. I read some of the Golden Bough. The whole enterprise definitely lowered my belief in the supernatural when I asked 'How would it work?'

Thread on Dan Boultwood's victim who waives her anomity to talk about the experience. For those who didn't see the original reporting, this is the only significant coverage. Maddie says how she's disappointed there wasn't more public introspection and conversation over this, and she's right.

There's just such a poverty of imagination now. The blandness of Country music (hell and Christian music) reflects how little a chunk of this country can imagine anything changing.

Marvels - Kurt Busiek and Alex Ross That was like the one that was given to me to read. Also the first two volumes of Astro City. Busiek just writes really great single volume sets of stories.

I read through it. Liked it a lot. When it hits it's the best thing. When it's weird it's nice. Sometimes I didn't know what the fuck they were talking about but it still moved. Also, complete manga.

Slightly embarrassing but I often get mixed up on who is who amongst Chuck Austen, Chuck Dixon and Buzz Dixon. It's kind of funny but they've all worked in comics and at least two are prolific in animation and one definitely has shitty politics.
