I disagree. When faced with the necessity to wage a never-ending year-long campaign, candidates are forced to be all about the money instead of being about the voters. The donors decide the nominees. If your state primary comes too late, your choices have already been taken away.

We were probably the most progressive of the original 13 colonies. Largely populated by refugees from English debtor prisons, our orignal charter outlawed slavery back in the 1700's. We lost the plot somewhere along the way, but we still have our moments.

I think primaries are fine except for presidential primaries. I think presidential primaries should all be held on the same day. The prolonged state-by-state primaries silence all but the most well-financed voices, and early-voting states have far too much influence.

You'd probably label me a "centrist" and that just isn't so. I would gladly vote for a candidate like Zohran Mamdani or AOC over *any* Republican. I may have disagreements with some leftists, but I know they want the same things as me - better conditions for the vast majority of the people.
