I hate to break it to you but my story RPG has no stat screen at all. No meters, no points, no numbers, nothing to level up. It just remembers whether you were kind enough to save the quiet kid, and three episodes later a path unlocks that does not exist for anyone else. 1/2

Genuine question: what's a story (book, game, anything) that you finished and then just sat there, not ready to leave? I want Rottenroots to be someone's "sat there afterwards story. That's the entire goal. 1/2

I would rather give a speech to a thousand people than sit next to one person silently playing my demo. The silence kills me. But I also don’t want to influence them by saying something… Devs who do live playtests are built different and I am not built like that.

I am an ex teacher. Every heavy choice in Rottenroots was stress-tested by years of classroom discussions. If a question could derail a double lesson, it (often) came in the game. My students have no idea they were playtesters.

Two years ago I quit teaching to write a 251,833 word story about love under a regime that outlawed it. This week we’re probably passing 10,000 wishlists. I still refresh the number like it’s a typo… #narrativegames #visualnovel #indiegamedev #indiegame #gamedevlife
