September pixel sketch 7/30 #pixelart #digitalart
The moon shines in the sunset over an ocean of water. The sky is pink and the water aqua. A highlight stretches vertically from the top of the canvas to the water which reflects the highlight.

Self-portrait #pixelart #ドット絵
Pixel art piece with a black background. On the foreground, there's a face, or rather a white spiral where a face would be expected. Below the face, on the neck area, a 25%-dense dithering, and below that, still on the neck area, a red horizontal curved line crossing the neck, with shiny drops of blood coming out of it.

At the end of the day, we can only see the 'realistic' external appearance of other people in real life, but only you have a sense of your own emotions, thoughts, mind and soul.

and I'll remember what i was feeling when i made it, even though maybe for other viewers it could look like just some weird shapes and less meaningful than a more realistic version.

Yes, that's how i feel about it as well! My self-portraits are almost always like this, abstract, very different from what an actual human probably looks like. Yet I'll see this drawing and immediately see my reflection in it

I do ommit certain things they're too personal haha, but generally i kinda feel like the art is 'naked' if i don't add the extra info xD it's almost like it's part of the piece for me, part of what gives it meaning, and writing the review helps me remember them as more meaningful memories i guess ^^

Thanks a lot for the detailed comment, I appreciate it! 🥹 Yes, i've always shared insights about my art as a thread, some backstory (if any), struggles i had making it, how satisfied i ended up being.

Since I'm hosting, I'll go first! I'm Valymere and I'm a digital artist and pixel artist who occasionally dabbles in photography. Here's a selection of art I'd consider my best! I'm a little all over the place, but I really like making whatever comes to mind!

I WannaCry... thanks so much for 500 followers you guys. I generally don't make anything for milestones, but I think being halfway to 1k deserves something special. I also have a bit to say this time around, and I leave those in the comments below🔽 #Art #2DArt #DigitalArt #PixelArt #ドット絵
An abstract pixel art portrait of my avatar. It consists of a pastel red hood that dithers into the darkness behind and a cloudy blue sky where the face should be. There are two eyes crying black tears.

Hello! I realized I had some characters I hadn't finished yet! And what better time than now to post one! Given my lack of time for new stuff...🥲 I haven't show her yet, but this is my personal favorite OC: Vetur. I hope to show her off more in the future! #Art #DigitalArt #2DArt #OC #Illustration
The character's name is Vetur; a cybernetic looking being with white and blue tendril hair, glowing blue eyes, a mostly black metallic body, and white joints. She wears a ripped reddish-pink shawl with long sleeves and a fur trim and matching gloves. She strikes a sassy pose with her hands out to the sides and a smug grin.

A bright blue triangle symbol is behind her that matches the gemstone on her chest plate. Around her are several glowing red and blue triangles.

Still busy working on the Spooktober Visual novel game jam! Writing is going well, but still taking breaks to draw characters. I used the #grenglade200 colour palette by the talented and wonderful @whimsicade.bsky.social 😄 #ドット絵 #pixelart
A group of 4 students, the one to the left is aloof and staring off into the distance, next to them is a girl who is smiling sparkling with radiance, next to her is a girl who is shy and reserved, next to her is a boy who is confidently gesturing.

Honestly I love the aesthetics of the sunrays. Made the piece so much more interesting! I should let my mind be crazy more often. That's all for today, sorry if the writing is a little different than usual, I'm tired and not making much sense XD
030
Laquin @laquinart.com · 02/09/2026
Based on that, the mirror's angle was calculated, and then I used some trigonometry to figure out what the remaining sunrays had to be. Eh, life update, I'm starting a Master's in Math in just a month so I kinda need to review this kind of stuff lollll
130
Laquin @laquinart.com · 02/09/2026
I had one condition: I wanted the horizontal sunray to reflect with a -26.565 degree angle, or a -1/2 slope, which looks good on pixel art (it naturally avoids jaggies).
130
Laquin @laquinart.com · 02/09/2026
The mirror isn't even in the right place, as the reflected sunrays don't appear to be hitting the child's back like it looks like. 😭
120
Laquin @laquinart.com · 02/09/2026
So I did what any sane person would have done: I drew a floating mirror that changes the direction of the sunrays so that the lighting makes sense again! ...yeah, I'm a weirdo.

Laquin @laquinart.com · 02/09/2026
The ice cream cups on the stall also look kinda weird, like crowns. Anyways, I then went on to draw the Sun. And I realised that I drew it on the opposite site of where the light was coming from judging by the shading.

Laquin @laquinart.com · 02/09/2026
I've seen that making the drawing readable with this limited palette is pretty hard (duh). For example, when drawing ice-cream hat the dog is wearing, i wanted it to make it clear that it is part of the staff, but honestly it looks like fireworks LOL

Laquin @laquinart.com · 02/09/2026
I mean, my last posted art was a 1-bit self-portrait, but it was more oekaki than conventional pixel art, so this was a bit different.

Helo! I decided to do August's Monthly Pixels challenge. The restriciton for this month was to use a 1-bit palette. I've been saying for a really long time that I wanted to try 1-bit pixel art so I guess the time has finally arrived!

Ice cream cart managed by a man and his dog and sunrays reflected on a floating mirror (I KNOW I'M LATE I'M SO SORRY I HAD FORGOTTEN TO ADD THE BUSINESS NAME AND IT WAS TOO LATE ALREADY 😭) @monthlypixels.bsky.social #monthlypixels #pixelart #ドット絵
1-bit pixel art illustration of a beach with an ice cream cart in the middle. The glass on the cart features the text 'delayed ice-cream'. On the left side, there is a man wearing an ice-cream-shaped costume giving ice cream to a girl. On the right side, there's a woman petting a dog that's wearing an ice cream cap. On the top right side, part of the sun can be seen. On the sky, sunrays are portrayed as black straight lines coming from the sun toward the left. On the left side there's a line that marks the limit of the sunrays. Sunrays then take a turn at that point and start moving right with the correct inclination.

And then some online games and Adobe as you said. I don't use Adobe and I abandoned those online games when I switched to Linux. But some people might have different priorities. I think a dual boot system is better than rejecting Linux completely, which many people do end up doing.

For example, when I was in university, i had to take an exam using an anti-cheat software only available on Windows. I believe this is a mistake by my university, but I still didn't have time to argue on the exam day so I just used the Windows partition and installed it there. (+)

Laquin @laquinart.com · 01/09/2026
Oh, me neither. In fact my Windows crashes when I open it and I don't care enough to fix it because I don't miss it at all haha. That being said, I believe it can help a beginner psychologically to know that they still have the more familiar OS, you know, juuuuust in case. (+)

Laquin @laquinart.com · 01/09/2026
I'd honestly recommend making a partition in which to install Linux in the future. You don't need to lock in now, just leave the door open so you can install it one day when you're free and you can try it out without the fear of not being able to go back to Windows. I'm sorry this happened to you.😓

Also, you don't need to change all sites at once! I still access Gmail from time to time even months after the change because I've signed up to hundreds of sites. lol I now use a custom domain so that in the future migrating to another service is immediate.

I'm trying both Tuta and Proton on two different addresses I use. They're both zero-access, the clients are open source and all data is encrypted end-to-end, so they have no way to access it even if they wanted to.
