It's been a dereliction of governments over the last fifty years not to organise the building of many more resovoirs that in many cases could also generate hydro electricity. Concurrently, not allowing general infrastructure building not to keep up with population growth has been an abject failure.

I guess when Smartphones first became a thing, I was old enough to feel that they are far more useful in my day to day life then a determent. I use it a lot but I don't doom scroll, I don't reshare dubious articles and I almost never buy anything advertised. augustlamm.substack.com/p/you-dont-n...

They may have interfered but there was still a huge amount of the electorate that were completely decided on voting to leave from when Thatcher was Prime Minister. So Putin's shenanigans or Farage's campaign would have made absolutely no difference at all to their choice back in 2016.

What the absolute F**K!! Once again, reliance on oil and it's derivatives is causing more instability than good. And what the blooming hell does Putin have over Trump that he never really criticises him and his actions? This will only pour more fuel on the fire. www.theguardian.com/world/2026/o...

It's like when Hitler became the leader of the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP) in July 29 1921. It was used as a strategic tool to appeal to the working class rather than to signal actual alignment with leftist or socialist ideology.

When it comes to long articles, poems or stories, I feel much more comfortable listening to them as I find reading far to sedentary a pastime. At least one can get on and do something else while listening or in the best cases, can actually be exercising while consuming the words spoken out loud. 🔊👂🚶

Like I said, whatever decision is made should wait till after the next General Election, which rumours say could be next May. As a win for Labour will give them a stronger footing and Reform made weaker, which will be a better environment for introducing that next essential democratic referendum. 🗳️

I completely agree with this part of the article "This is the suspicion of some Green veterans. They feel their party has been captured by a well-organised, itinerant caucus of militant left activists who have been looking for a new host since Jeremy Corbyn and his acolytes lost control of Labour."

Continued large scale investment in new renewable energy infrastructure is very important so whatever happens regarding bill relief, that cannot be reduced or delayed.

There is an awful lot to do besides getting a consensus to rejoin. Trying to sort out energy mix so we're not so reliant on fossil fuels which honestly has been the biggest failure of Government since the 1980's. If that had been sorted, both the Ukranian and Iran wars wouldn't have hit home so hard

You can't label all Leave voters as Morons! Lots of people had their reasons for voting that did not include anything that was said by Farage and I know personally loads of British Commonwealth Diaspora that was among them. It stemmed from many years of unhappiness with the way the EU ran things.
000
Chad Dixon @lapswood.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
It's completely undemocratic to NOT have another EU referendum. The likelihood of the result going in your favour is higher because millions of Leave voters have died since 2016 and almost as many young people are now of voting age and it's possible the law will then allow 16 & 17 year olds vote too
000
Chad Dixon @lapswood.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
And if that next referendum comes back as a "NO" vote, meaning stay out of the EU, I hope that UK Governments don't visit the issue again for at least twenty five years. 🗳️

In fact, as long as Farage is still active in politics and has strong financial representation, he will again be a volatile figure. So whatever UK's future is with the EU, any referendum should wait until Labour has won another General Election

This sounds totally reasonable. War on Want says, "Government must take take steps to limit extreme wealth. It is calling for our government to establish £10m as the upper acceptable limit for wealth; to introduce an annual wealth tax on all assets over £10m." www.theguardian.com/news/2026/se...

Maybe a bit higher than £1,000 as if those donations are subject to so much tax then rich people will find less salubrious ways to help fund their favourite political party. Or maybe, hopefully it'll put off the ones that have dodgy agendas from trying to get those adengas into mainstream politics.

Like 'The Imitation Game' (2014), it's important to tell the stories of persons not directly on the front line of War and how their contributions were in some cases as or more important than those famous battlefield commanders. See my full review here 🎬 tedssalmagundi.blogspot.com/2026/09/pres...

I agree not to argue with you but as we've seen, what everybody's view on, "What's best for me" does not converge under a clear obvious consensus.

There's a lot of disabled persons that are feeling very relieved by the decision today. Could you honestly argue directly against them for their personal points of view regarding this proposition?

I'm definitely in your camp but you can understand how some people are worried that people who are terminally ill and feel they are are a burden to their families may be talked into ending their life earlier then they actually would. There's a lot of people in that camp so that's why it's so imotive

As I've said many times, the energy policy of not just the UK Government but many should have transitioned hard away from oil and gas to renewables from the mid 1980's. Doing that would've negated so many of the issues that huge fluctuations in the wholesale oil and gas prices that affect us today.

I mainly hold my phones in my left hand. The main video shows the closed iPhone Duo held mainly in the right hand with all the dock apps moved to the right side of both screens so too far away from my left thumb. So quite honestly this is a totally impossible one handed experience for me when closed

Saw it about two weeks ago in my local cinema with a voucher I had for a free visit. I really think you had to have grown up during the main era of or at least watched lots of the original Looney Toons cartoon shorts to really get the best experience out of this. I personally was very entertained.

Yes, as I found it in the bed linen the next morning. The same linen I'd searched the previous morning. It's like it had entered a wormhole for 24 hours and then popped back out right where I was sleeping. 🙄

This is quite an incredible episode in this BBC Radio series. A seemingly ordinary woman, largely housebound due to chronic illness, wrote a series of letters to the office of the American President from 1881 & changed his view completely to run a much fairer system. 🇺🇸 www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...
