I learned recently that the first drafts of this were written by the guy who did the Quatermass movies, which are very British sci-fi horror stuff. Makes a lot of sense in retrospect.

Lappi: For me, there’s a certain freedom in furry fiction. Real fiction has to be realistic. (Boring!) Science fiction has to be plausible. (Less boring!) But a story about a bunch of critters turning into pastries and hijinx ensue? Very acceptable in furry fiction!
