Someone looked at historical data for voter turnout for primaries and how that translated to outcomes in general elections over 100 years. The party that had biggest turnout in primaries won the general election. Current turnout in FL was skewed by changes in mail-in voting suppressing Dem turnout.

It is odd that the rural voters in FL outnumber the urban voters in reliably Democratic areas. The number of voters in navy blue Broward County remained stagnant as its population grew over the last 20 years. Lines at polls in black neighborhoods are very long and very short in white ones.

Florida wasn’t always a GOP stronghold. They worked for decades to get it red. They make it difficult to know who you are electing in “non partisan” elections where politicians get experience, reputations and name recognition.

Dad was a musician. He knew Ozzie as a bandleader. He also discouraged us kids to NOT become pro musicians. It’s a tough life. You work when everyone else is playing. Drugs and alcohol are occupational hazards. There’s a reason rock stars die young.

I went to an anti war in Afghanistan and another anti war in Iraq protest with hubby WH was at Cal during the Vietnam War protests. He pointed out the FBI agents photographing the crowd and reminded me that the press only counts the ppl in the street. Those on sidewalks are bystanders.

Carlos Josue Marchena, a 36-year-old Costa Rican man with type 1 diabetes, died after less than a week at an ICE detention facility in Louisiana. Marchena is at least the 58th person to die in ICE custody since January 2025 and the third at this facility in less than six months.

And also on highlands which get just as much wind. We are 60 miles out to sea. If they posted a bond to remove them when they fail I’d believe in them. If they didn’t need helicopters to service them which is a carbon producer, if they were farther off shore, if there weren’t alternative sites…

I have not seen explanation of the causes of corrosion but aluminum and other metals disintegrate here. The ppl building the windmills want them in the ocean so they will get subsidies without having to pay for land. They could be more easily built and serviced along existing electrical easements…

You will never convince me. I am a lifelong sailor whose navigation has been significantly impeded. The windmills in the ocean nearby exploded and polluted the island beaches nearby. They require helicopters to service them. The ocean here freezes and moves boulders. The corrosion is terrific…
