I'm no stranger to having unusual songs stuck in my head, it happens all the time. But I am curious why, for the last three days, my brain has decided that song should be "Pink Fluffy Unicorns Dancing on Rainbows."

"I miss AMVs" Good news! They're still around! There are 100-ish cons with AMV contests that get hundreds of entries, checking out their playlists is a good place to start bc you get curated, quality stuff. Last weekend there were 8 cons that had contests, here's a 🧵 with finalists playlists:

I'm not sure of the law for the general case, but IIRC, the law that authorized the original $1 presidential gold coin series required them to have been dead for two years before being coin-eligible.

I was able to pick up my Friday-only badge "on site" at the other end of the center from the entrance in a trailer in a parking lot. I had to ask four separate staff members where to go to accomplish that, though.

Sadly had to say goodbye to our cat Miss Mess this morning. 19 is a great run, but her mobility issues took a really bad turn last week and it was clear it was time. She will be missed greatly by all of us, even me, her human of last resort.

Miss Mess, a large, extremely elderly, gray and white long haired cat, wearing a modified blue-green toddler onesie with dinosaurs on it, sitting on a bed, looking directly at the camera, lit from the front with a flash.

Her expression oozes but nobility and disdain for the photographer.

Happy new article day 🥰 We just went live an article by Red Bard that examines the AnimeMusicVideos.org panel at Anime Boston 2026. In the panel, Phade discussed the site's history, the importance of physical media, and more. It's a great read and we hope you enjoy it. #anime #history #amv

Not sure about super in-depth, but I've used a fair number of obscure options over the years. What issue are you running into?

If it was a convertible, it could have been a Tengen Top-Down Gurren Lagann.

This is the one AM posted, correct? My suspicion waffles between incompetence (bad drafting) and malice plus incompetence (there is a section 8 that was removed before posting and they didn't update the numbers).

They like doing things like that. The Saturn V was 1969 pieces.

Reddit admins can override/remove mods, but that's been very rare outside of the blackout protests a few years ago. AFAICR, it's usually only happened when a mod tries to remove other mods in a power struggle/takeover attempt. With him being effectively the only mod, unlikely anything will happen.

I wish I could buy it - the web store it's an exclusive at doesn't ship to the US. Hopefully I can figure out a proxy to get it.

Lantis @lantisescudo.bsky.social · 15/07/2026

True. Ify or Lou, but not both. Erika and Jiavani feel like a similar pair for this - one or the other, but not both. Katie Marovich might have been a good option - there weren't really any deadpan snarkers here. But she also isn't the manic energy the rest were, so maybe not.

Lantis @lantisescudo.bsky.social · 15/07/2026

Brennan is probably too competitive, but Lou would probably have fit. Izzy or Lily would have good adds, too. Vic is too much of a chaos goblin for an episode like this that needs a bit of structure to work. The only BtS episode I've anticipated more was the Samalamadingdong last season.

I've been meaning to get more exercise for a while. My doctor wants me to lose weight, and I know my energy level is trash lately (depression and stress suck). Walking is boring, and running hurts my knees. So I bought a bike and took it for a first ride this morning. strava.app.link/E8fYW5f7E4b

Best guess is he's using one of the earlier dividing lines between "GenX" and "millennial" - I know I've seen as early as 1977 used in some ridiculous blame-the-youth articles.

Germany has always been my second team, probably because I watched PBS's "Soccer made in Germany" broadcasts of the Bundesliga as a kid. Not great WC results since their 2014 title (group stage elimination in both '18 and '22), but a nice, precise style of play that's fun to watch.

For the last several years, I've maintained a site that tracks the statistics for the referees of the NCAA D1 Hockey East men's ice hockey conference. My end-of-year posts are going up a little later than I wanted, but they're finally up. And now I can take a break until October.

I'd have sworn that Chobits was one of the earliest 16:9 series to air. I'm pretty certain the Pioneer DVDs were anamorphic, but I don't have mine to check any more. I did verify that the Funimation BluRay is 16:9, though.

That is a worrying fact. Do you have a recommended provider that can do domain-based email? I've got domains I can use, but minimal knowledge of providers. I know enough that I know full self-hosting is a no-go with things like DKIM, DMARC, and SPF being a bear to set up and maintain.

Probably something with Netflix terms. The DreamWorks Dragons series are in the same situation, except a couple random episodes that are available in HD because they were included as extras on the movie BDs.

If this pans out, I'm very interested as well. I was reading some of the risk factors, though, and the risk of triggering an autoimmune disorder is something they're going to have to do a lot of testing to avoid. But the possibilities are tempting.

Shingles is how one of my older relatives died - they were partially immunocompromised while being treated for something else, had a horribly timed shingles outbreak, and it hit their brain. I'm still a few years away from vax eligibility, but it's on my must-get list as soon as I am.

IMO, Germany has the best kit, with Finland and Switzerland close behind. Slovakia, Sweden, and Denmark are all excellent, too, but France and Italy are the bottom of my list. USA and Canada are both pretty mid.

Both goalies have been great, and the team has been ridiculous on defense all tournament. 31 goals in six games, only one allowed, five shutouts. Absolute madness.
