Jackass: Best and Last (2026) Is this really the last one? Didn't they say that about the last two? Anyway, in between reliving some great classics (watching it with someone who has never seen Jackass was a great choice), some of the new bits will be burned in my brain forever.

Joy Ride As a comedy it worked but I don't think the more heartfelt plot about finding family could keep up.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps A movie with some great moments, but I felt as if it were very disconnected as a whole. Very well-cast though, I liked all of the leads, and I particularly liked the scene where Sue had to defend the choices she'd made as a mother.

Thunderbolts* I fucking LOVED the music. According to who I watched the movie with, I suddenly perked up as if awake for the first time during a 3 marvel movie marathon when Son Lux's soundtrack first hit. The movie was actually pretty great too.

Shadow of a Doubt (1943) I've had a read up on this movie a lot to understand what made it tick...with the people of its time. Unfortunately the evil that is represented is all too common 80 years later, and the safeguards against it from 1943 (family, law, decency) feel flimsy. One good shot tho

Laura (1944) The disappointing film noirs hadn't started yet when we watched this. A middling first act gives way to some genuinely fun twists. Much like Maltese Falcon a lot of this is held up by the quality of dialogue and the performances of the actors. Vincent Price gets mogged by Clifton Webb.

The Maltese Falcon (1941) It's so cool to watch a movie that had to support itself purely on the quality of dialogue and did it successfully. I believe that's the reason this movie has held up for decades, and following this up with other film noir "classics" I was generally disappointed.
