Though I Am an Inept Villainess is an excellent anime, featuring well-written characters, great drama and comedy, and an enticing story. It never grew dull—in fact, I finished it in one sitting because it kept me wanting to know how it ends. I crave a second season... Highly recommend.

“Just give me the damn drugs!” I say while the lonesome cashier slides the multivitamins and vitamin D across the scanner. After a long 20 seconds, I quickly use Apple Pay and leave, opening the bottles in my car and swallowing one of each with a satisfied gulp of water. Ah, yes. Getting older.

*Only for those that have caught up to the anime, of course. If you haven’t watched it, start from the beginning as there are a lot of characters and world building that would just confuse you if you jumped straight into the latest season, which is actually kinda apt for the latest arc…

The 4th season of Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- excels in its story, characters, and animation as the current best isekai anime. Subaru fights his imposter syndrome using his immense will to persist for those he came to care for, making the case to look at oneself more kindly. Recommend.

Primetime is an excellent film that delves into how one’s ego and well-meaning intentions can warp and ruin the lives of those around them. The acting, framing, and storytelling make for a realistic downward spiral of someone sacrificing everything for views and fame. Highly recommend.

Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom is an excellent animated film that conveys its story effectively without dialogue. Its familiar claymation style, accessible storytelling, and humor suit all ages. If you enjoy impressive stop-motion animation and/or have children, I highly recommend it.

Resident Evil is the best video game adaptation I've watched--and it doesn't even feature any of the games' characters! Zach Cregger nails the experience of the series with all its body horror and comedic goodness. The set and sound designs, framing, and acting are super immersive. Highly recommend.

Ghost in the Shell is an excellent anime film, showing off what animation techniques were possible in the 1990s. It still blows out some of today's anime out of the water with its backgrounds, character designs, framing, and sound design--although some storytelling beats show its age. Recommend.

Overall, I feel that a lot of people just assume black-and-white meanings for everything when it can most definitely be a spectrum, regardless of how narrow the spectrum may be. All this to say is that I’m concerned about the lack of media literacy in mainstream media discourse nowadays. 🥀

000

lagging @laggingdaze.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

I find this also occurs when people try to find representation in media. They expect the media to glaze any and all minority representation and that doing otherwise is slanderous and unacceptable. The author is not responsible for creating perfect representations! They can also make mistakes!

110

lagging @laggingdaze.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

While pattern recognition is essential in understanding media, it is not a set rule all creatives follow. Specific connections do not apply across all media, even if they are as seemingly simple as color and sound. The author is not at fault for your prejudices lol. Be more open-minded.

100

lagging @laggingdaze.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

Another example is in music—specifically leitmotifs. Because of Toby Fox’s use of musical theming, people look for every instance of a specific musical pattern in everything now and try to link it to some grander storytelling when, in reality, it was probably recycled since it sounded good.

I think so many people have a problem with assuming specific details always mean the same thing. For red-color dominant characters, people always think that they must be fire type. The crazy part is that they also insist the designers made the mistake of not linking red with fire type. Like bruh 💀

It’s the attention to detail that sets Apple’s first folding phone apart from the rest. The software experience doesn’t look clunky at all comparatively. However, I’m not made of money lol. Maybe the Burgundy Pro model or the (unconfirmed) Air 2 will be my 4-year upgrade instead. 🤔

The iPhone Duo is very interesting—the complex engineering that went into the hinge and minimizing appearance of the screen dip, design choices that blend the software and hardware into a compelling package, and launching at the minimum price I would’ve expected for a folding iPhone.

Overall, I would expect the series to receive the game or even an announcement for AA7 for the 30th anniversary—if they choose to remaster the rest of the series for Steam. The community will have waited 15 years for a new entry but hopefully Shu Takumi is still raring to go!

000

lagging @laggingdaze.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

Unfortunately, since Capcom knows this series isn’t one of its best sellers, they won’t even try to expand the team, and gradually expanding on Steam is the most they want to do right now. They might release Layton vs. Wright for the 25th anniversary in October but the rest remains up in the air.

100

lagging @laggingdaze.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

This means that Capcom won’t expand the team to tackle multiple ports at once, which is a good and bad thing. The good thing is that we know that the games are not being done without input from the original devs. The bad thing is that it’ll taking forever, which means AA7 is not coming anytime soon.

100

lagging @laggingdaze.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

I feel like the Ace Attorney teams’ main priority is to get every game they’ve made prior to Steam. There may be stuff already started for AA7 but none of it is in the main pipeline yet. I would assume that the Layton vs. Wright game is coming and the last three mainline games will be remastered.

These taste decent compared to the Krispy Kreme x Pokemon donuts. You can keep the themed box and the character toppers but the spoon is probably the only thing to collect. (I got the wooden shovel lol) Given the price for the 6-pack at about $5 per cookie/cake, it’s overpriced. But hey—it’s crumbl…

Hot take: Battery life for handheld gaming devices should net you 1-2 hours of playtime. You can spend hours sitting around gaming without even noticing. It’s an easy reminder to cut your current session short and start again another day. Same with doomscrolling—just stop when the battery’s low.

Hopefully Mojang’ll show the Vibrant Visuals upgrade for Switch 2 in the next Nintendo Direct if they’re also showing Dungeons 2 stuff. They could also save a deeper dive for the next Minecraft Live. Manifesting mouse mode controls (please Mojang, I beg!) 🙏

Coyote vs. Acme is a fun movie about a washed-up lawyer fighting for Wile E. Coyote against the maker of his defective products, Acme. Its message is simple: never stop trying to fight for what’s right! Refreshingly, it doesn’t rely on Looney Tunes nostalgia with the few cameos it has. Recommend.

The donuts are kinda mid (since I don’t really like frosting or sprinkles—glazed ftw lol). Dunno if the some have chocolate filling but the bottom left yellow one had some kind of cream in it. Paid about twice the price for a dozen so not worth imo. Might only keep the box tho

Watch connected media in release order. There’ll be easter eggs and references you won’t get unless you do! Remember that much of media is built on existing media. People like to pay homage to things they like or express what they know—who’d’ve thought?

All in all, unless Blu-ray becomes fashionable like vinyls have become, I think the disc era will come to an end soon. They will no longer have to produce and accommodate the physical disc readers—like the disappearance of the headphone jack and microSD card slot in phones. Goodbye physical 🫡

lagging @laggingdaze.bsky.social · 13/08/2026

Wonder if gamers can actually vote with their wallet and preserve physical games. GTA 6 will set the tone for the upcoming all-digital future for Playstation and possibly Microsoft. I doubt Nintendo will ditch cartridges but they might lean more on Game Key Cards due to the continuing memory crisis.

Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass encapsulates the contemporary SNL humor in a fun little package. Its fourth wall breaking shenanigans and over-the-top scenarios with little inappropriate jokes thrown in casually kept me amused throughout. If you like SNL and adult humor, I recommend.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a great movie that dives in the Peter Parker’s loneliness and how isolating yourself from those who care will only hurt you. Despite so many characters and plot developments, the movie doesn’t become a disjointed mess. This is Tom Holland’s best Spider-Man. Recommend.

Yeah, physical. Using the same TV, speaker system, and HDMI cable, the Win11 part of my dual-boot setup did not do the same thing and the audio played normally. I did not try headphones as this was a couch gaming test system. The only wireless devices were my mouse and keyboard.

110

lagging @laggingdaze.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

At first, the sound problems were mild. When watching videos, the sound wouldn't play immediately after I started or unpaused it, leaving at most a second of silence. Not that the audio and video de-synced or had some latency but it felt like it always took the audio some time to initialize.

101

lagging @laggingdaze.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

It was just cutting in and out in a fixed rhythm multiple times per second while also delivering a tinny sound. It was definitely trying to play the correct audio but it felt like it was only reading the waveform at an incorrect frequency if that makes any sense.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm thinking of switching to Nobara, which was described as a gaming-focused version of Fedora. But I'm not too sure if I should just try vanilla Fedora and just install all the gaming dependencies manually.

110

lagging @laggingdaze.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

I just wanted to test out a gaming OS and saw some people saying Bazzite, Cachy, or Nobara would be a good fit for it. I chose Cachy since I read it would be “CPU-optimized” and “low-latency” as I was planning on putting it on an older system. Win11 is just because I’m used to it on my main PC.

120

lagging @laggingdaze.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

Other than that, it runs fine. But I mostly watch videos and play games—both of which need audio to fully enjoy. Unfortunately, this one issue affects the majority of my use-case and prevents me from fully switching from W11 to Linux. Additionally, some games are not compatible so there’s that too.

110

lagging @laggingdaze.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

This was after an hour of troubleshooting btw. Nothing with resetting pipewire was working. Restarting without going into Windows after resetting all audio settings did not fix anything. If I didn’t have W11 as dual-boot, I might’ve not been able to fix this without doing a clean-install of CachyOS.

110

lagging @laggingdaze.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

Here’s the reason I can’t daily-drive Linux (besides using it for a server): Consistent audio issues. In my dual-boot system (CachyOS/W11), I thought I bricked my audio by accidentally turning on Pro audio. Every time I have audio problems, I have to boot into Windows then restart into Cachy.

The Odyssey lets the acting, sets, camera, and story-telling do their j*bs to show the general audience the epic tale of Odysseus's journey back home in a non-linear but clear manner. I was never bored despite its lengthy runtime. The only low point was its dialogue. See it in IMAX if you can!

If you’re considering buying a pet, you maybe should not have a mammal if you’re a collector. A dog or cat would absolutely ruin your stuff if they’re not well-trained. Unless you’re always vigilant and keep your collections physically separate from your pet, it’s not getting away unscathed lol

010

lagging @laggingdaze.bsky.social · 22/07/2026

“Bro”, “guys”, and “dude” are gender-neutral terms nowadays. I’ve seen all kinds of young people shifting the vernacular towards this direction. If the speaker refers to another possessively like “you’re my bro” or comparatively like “as a dude”, that’s context that makes it not gender-neutral.

Reminder that—if you don’t want to feel bad or tired after eating, stand/walk for 15-30 minutes! The most important thing is to not sit/lie down immediately after a meal. If you suffer with gas or sleep problems like I do, try this out and see if this helps you not feel like crap lol

Reminder that cheap =/= value. There’s a difference between total cost and efficiency. Something can be hella cheap and last a few months and another thing can be 5x more expensive but last 10x as long. You can spend less money in the long term by spending more upfront.
