My student Láďa Bartoš @ladme.bsky.social was disappointed by the available tools to calculate order parameters of lipid membranes. His decision? To develop his own—far better, much faster, and more functional—and share it with everyone. Take a look at our preprint! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

gorder: Comprehensive tool for calculating lipid order parameters from molecular simulations
Lipid order parameters are an important metric for quantifying the molecular structure of biological membranes. They can be derived from both molecular simulations and experimental measurements, enabl...

🚨 All right, since this is a place of sanity now, let’s kick things off with an open PhD position in my team to work on simulating glycans and their interactions. If you’re passionate about computational biophysics and glycobiology, go ahead and apply! Any shares would be greatly appreciated. 🙃

Our lab @labvacha.bsky.social is finally on Bluesky! If you are interested in molecular dynamics, biophysics of lipid membranes, antimicrobial peptides, viruses, liquid-liquid phase-separation and all sorts of other cool stuff, give it a follow :)

Now we need a blue butterfly there.

You can also implement methods directly for a struct, no need for a trait. Traits are just for shared functionality between different structs :)

I see bioinformatics and computational biology as two different fields. Bioinformatics = working specifically with sequence data. Computational biology = MD simulations or some other modelling.
