HITIAM (and everything else) is on sale!

Lach @lachedupgames.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

The Steam sale is over, but you can still grab Help! I'm Turning Into A Mermaid on sale over at The Humble Store! It's DRM free and you also get a steam key.

Don't do updates, it'll tank your visibility nowadays. And I plan it out like a 10 or 12 episode tv show and try to make each episode/chapter work on its own and part of the whole thing

Lach @lachedupgames.bsky.social · 21/07/2026

I also dont really do drafts, I write it once then I go back and refine a single time when I code. The first 30k words of a game are different, that gets passed through a few times, but after that its much quicker as your players should be invested at that point and its less of a worry

Lach @lachedupgames.bsky.social · 21/07/2026

I only write dialogue, but that's just my preffered style. My advice is to just start and keep going

I do answer what happens with Tamara. You've missed a scene

100

Lach @lachedupgames.bsky.social · 05/06/2026

Character arc wise you've got Ember trusting Hunter more, Hunter being prepared to try different things but still staying true to their morals, and the heart beats wrap up the arcs for the love interests like Tabitha learning to forgive her past mistakes but also to try to be better

100

Lach @lachedupgames.bsky.social · 05/06/2026

What bugged you? They saved the city, they exposed corruption but didn't fully remove it yet, Hunter got a body they were comfortable with, the bad guys were defeated.

Lach @lachedupgames.bsky.social · 05/06/2026

Everything gets sorted though! There's one small loose thread but thats sequel setup, the rest is wrapped up!

100

Lach @lachedupgames.bsky.social · 04/06/2026

Thanks! I'll try and fix it, I thought I got all the item dupes but I coded that puzzle very early on. I probably did something stupid Max merges into Galatea after Max's Big Bust 2, you don't see it on screen

200

Lach @lachedupgames.bsky.social · 04/06/2026

If you've got any bug reports send them through. I think I've fixed most of the critical ones but if I've missed something I can roll out a fix.

Lach @lachedupgames.bsky.social · 08/05/2026

Its a long game! And he doesn't turn into a mermaid right away, it's gradual

010

Lach @lachedupgames.bsky.social · 29/04/2026

Just to clarify, this is all placeholder assets! There will be actual art in the game, this is just so I can test everything. Games are ugly for ages

020

Lach @lachedupgames.bsky.social · 29/04/2026

Because I'm insane, I'm making a city builder in Ren'Py for my next visual novel. It's actually working, but I have to do a lot of coding to make all the building types work. It'll run in the background during free time sections, so you'll come back to see supply chain shortages in between dates.

160

Lach @lachedupgames.bsky.social · 19/03/2026

It's on sale today if that helps

Help! I'm Turning Into A Mermaid! tells a serious and topical story about real issues such as the cost of living crisis, fascism, political corruption, sexy catgirls and the ever growing threat of war. It also has silly tentacle artwork. #HITIAM #mermaids #gamedev #tentacles #trans #genderbender

So i found this game completely by accident. This game was amazing, the characters are amazing, the story was phenomenal and got me really invested in the world of Axon city. If your a fan of gender bend shenanigans and yuri you'll probably like this visual novel. Highly recommended!

Finished the game, and ngl, this is probably the best game I've played in a while. There's some minor graphical bugs here and there, but girl, Hunter might just be one of my new all time faves. I won't spoil it, but the twists and turns the game makes are so exciting. Definitely need to play more.
