And to educators everywhere: thank you for the curiosity you nurture, the questions you encourage, and the opportunities you create for learners every day. 💚 What’s one piece of teaching advice that has stayed with you?

Their reflections touch on something we see across our community: giving learners space to explore, connecting learning to their interests, encouraging critical thinking, and creating opportunities that might not otherwise be possible.

Great teaching can look different in every classroom, but there’s a lot educators can learn from one another. This #WorldTeachersDay, we’re sharing advice from educators across the LabXchange community, from Mexico, the United States, and Malawi.
Text reads: "Be patient with your learners: their success is your success." - Grace Daka, LabXchange teacher ambassador, Malawi. World Teachers' Day.Text reads: “Get to know your students’ interests, as this can help keep them engaged in your class.” - Olivia Hernández Cruz, LabXchange teacher ambassador, Mexico. World Teachers' Day.Text reads: “It’s not just about working with numbers, it’s about thinking critically about what the data represents and how it is used.” - Angela Campbell, LabXchange Teacher-in-Residence, United States. Three questions can help learners build stronger explanations from the start: - What is your claim? - Which evidence supports it? - Why does that evidence support your conclusion? #BackToSchool #ScientificReasoning #ScientificThinking #ScienceEducation #LabXchange

LabXchange @labxchange.bsky.social · 08/09/2026
A new school year is a chance to establish what a strong scientific explanation looks like. A claim states the answer. Evidence shows what supports it. Reasoning explains why the evidence makes the claim convincing. That final step is often the hardest and the most important.

Lab safety begins before the first beaker comes out. Rules are easier to remember when students understand why they matter. Rather than treating safety as a checklist on the wall, educators can make it part of the way the class investigates, collaborates, and cares for one another.

Eukaryotes, on the other hand, can be single-celled or multicellular. They store their DNA inside a nucleus, contain ribosomes, and have various membrane-bound organelles. Plants, animals, and fungi all fall under the category of eukaryotes.

What makes prokaryotic cells different from eukaryotic cells? Let's break it down!
A Venn diagram (2 overlapping circles) illustrates the characteristics that prokaryotic cells and eukaryotic cells have in common. Both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells have ribosomes, cell membranes, and DNA. Prokaryotic cells have circular DNA and an always present cell wall. Eukaryotic cells have a nucleus, membrane-bound organelles, and a sometimes present cell wall.

But that compression only works if the chart stays faithful to what the data actually shows. Reading a science story in the news should always start with asking: is this visualization telling the truth, or just telling a convenient story?
100
LabXchange @labxchange.bsky.social · 21/07/2026
That's the challenge behind data visualization. A good chart goes beyond just looking pretty to show how complex, large-scale information gets compressed into something a reader can actually take in and act on, whether the story is playing out over days or decades.

CRISPR-Cas9 uses a guide RNA to locate a specific DNA sequence, then the Cas9 enzyme cuts it there. The cell's own repair process takes over from that point, which is how scientists can disable a gene or insert new genetic material.
