Took some time to doodle the beetles I will be working on during my internship. These are based on photos of the control specimens that do not have residue growing on them. #illustration #pensketch #markerart #insectart #beetles

Four beetles drawn on a page in marker and pen. They are shown from the top down looking at the patterns on the beetle's back. They have a limited palette of colours using yelow, pink, blue, and purple. Thr top two beetles have pronged horns on their heads.

Exploding thoughts and a desire to break things down and start over. Build and rebuild, finding you've built atop unstable layers. ____________________ #pensketch #darksurrealism #surrealart #bodyhorror

A pen sketch in navy blue that has a figure stepping forward. They have no head, it is replaced with growing mounds like mold. The bones of the chest hips and limbs are overlayed ontop of the figure with repetition and layering of the limb bones. Behind this spills tendrils that spread from the ribs and into the space around the figure.

I'm back in my head again depressed and hopeless despite all the good in my life. I wish to be back in the neutral zone again please. #darksurrealism #bodyhorror #mentalhealthart #surrealart

Two human bodies the left sits with its knees up and hands clasped at its head. Its mouth is open, screaming while the rest of the head is covered by tubular shapes. The body on the right is kneeling with 3 pairs of arms overlaid atop eachother clasping at its head, no face is visible.

3 figures one standing, one walking, and one laying down. All 3 have a twisting smoke coming from holes in their bodies and the top of their heads above the cheeks is missing.

SILVER & IRON: Part One Ashley Lovell is a hopeful young werewolf who thinks he may have finally met a vampire willing to cooperate with him to eradicate a supernatural disease - only for both men to learn firsthand that your day can always get worse. 40+ pages, all in this thread 🧵🌙 #Silver&Iron

Comic cover titled “Silver & Iron” in all caps, “part one”. The title takes up the entire cover and is superimposed over a single figure standing in the centre of the page, a young but strong-looking man with light skin, visible chest and arm hair, and a beard which tapers into points at his chin and his cheeks. His hair is jaw-length and the top half is tied back, though some strands have come undone. He has upturned eyes and a moderately long nose with a slight bend in the bridge. A scar runs through his left eye leaving the pupil permanently dilated, making it appear darker than his right eye. He looks at the viewer with a sense of determination and grit, wiping blood off his chin; more blood stains his shirt, untucked and half-unbuttoned to expose part of his chest, and there are more traces of blood on his left hand which holds a crudely-hewn dagger.

Some of the things I've been doing this term. It's been so busy I've been struggling to stay engaged despite the overwelm. We have growth rings under a microscope, cute signage for a handplane, a leather replica made from washi paper and plaster, and a penny replica project. #museumconservation

Microscope image showing the plant cells at the border of a growth ring on a piece of softwood

A wooden handplane in a box made of coroplast with a small sign that says "caution artifact present, take care" it shows a warning sign and a broken marble bust

The mold, replica, and original piece of leather. The replica is made of japanese washi paper layered with fine plaster.

A display showing 4 types of mold material. A red alumilite mold maker, blue reprosil mold, purple easy mold, and yellow optosil mold. Bellow are 3 pennies. One is an original the two below that are replicas that are painted to look like pennies. One is a plaster cast, the other a quickwood cast.

Decided I'd dump a pile of sketches I had stashed on my phone. First two are 2024, last two are 2025. The second one has the spacedog design from my dnd campaign. The rest are all mental health venting. #surrealart #darksurrealism #bodyhorror #sketchbook #mentalhealthart

A naked figure drawn in yellow marker with black pen lines overtop. Their legs and left arm have 5 large pins/nails in them, the right arm reaches for the one in their opposite shoulder. Ribs are drawn on their chest and they're head is melting with only an ear and the mouth visible.

Loose sketches of 3 torsos in blue pen. Their heads are obscured by repeating lines. The largest has legs, but the arms are undefined. The figure on the lower right has only a torso, no arms nor hips.

Ljne drawing in black pen. A figure kneels surrounded by 10 heads with various forms of damage, most appear to yell or cry. The figure holds one head with both hands, it faces outward. The figure's fingers carelessly poke into the head's eyes. Behind the head the figure's chest is split from the neck to the bellybutton, it is full of smaller intact heads. There is no head on tbe figure, its neck is open

Okay, let’s try this again. I miss making art, and my current commitments (doing a postgrad course) are not helping. Posting became a chore. But I want to share. I want to inspire others and be inspired by them. #mentalhealthart #darksurrealism #darkart #surrealart #surrealism #bodyhorror

A digital line drawing in green of a human figure whose head has no face, only a hole and ears. Within the figure a trachea is drawn down the neck to the lungs which sit atop a twisted pile of tubes that resemble intestines but also do not. These loops spill down into the top part of the thighs. Both arms are behind their back and the figure bends at the waist leaning to the left.

Participated in a comic challenge. Thr prompt was 'I remember the day that I died'. I've always loved comics, but am overwhelmed when I try making them. This shorter style was way more approachable for me. #comic #shortcomic #traditionalart #pensketch #horrorcomic #spookycomic

Comic made of 5 panels in black brush pen with 2 colour highlights. The first panel shows someone's feet walking through grass, it reads "I remember...". The second shows a hand picking a yellow daisy shaped flower from among other flowers, it reads "that day...". The third is a close up of the lower half of a person's face and shoulders, they are smelling a bouquet of the yellow daisy flowers. The fourth shows the person in a forest carring the bouquet as they climb away from the viewer over a tree root. The last panel reads "the day that I died". It depicts the person slouched against the large tree among its roots, dead, the flower bouquet scattered on their torso. From the tree and the ground around it blue hhostly hands reach and grasp at the body.

I still call myself a printmaker despite not making any prints for years. It comes down to the fact that I still volunteer with the local printshop, and I won't shut up about printmaking if you get me started. Goat Eye circa. 2019 #printmaking #linocut #bodyhorror #darksurrealism

Lino cut print depicting a head from the shoulders up. The the head is floating above the shoulders from a cut in the neck from which tendrils sprout. The tendrils grow upward around the head and from the ear. The left eye is wide and the pupil looks like a cell dividing. The right eye is obscured as that part of the face is cut out showing that the inside of the head is hollow. Little patches of short hair are above the ears and on the top of the head, but the forhead and scalp are covered with sprouting polyps. These same polyps are present on the shoulders. The expression looks stunned/blank with the mouth agape, teeth exposed.
