It's also the reason I don't see people make rigs for facial animations and just use shape keys I see facial bones and rigs for animation, but for us 3D anime style, we don't need that for vtubers We have our unique tools to change our shape keys, to a camera to "rig" instead Hope that helps

Bones and Shape keys aim to serve similar goals, but function differently Personally I'm not at the skill level yet to manipulate both at same time, but I know you can still use bones to influence the motion of shape key'd areas. So you can, but obviously problemstic. Takes a lot of preplanning
