That pretty much rounds out the year! Heres a close up of an Anhinga, and a sunset photo of a very rare Harlequin Duck that showed up in my area! I hope to get out more next year and spot even more cool things!

My next adventure was down to the Space Coast in search of Flamingos. I spotted a Turkey family, a Bobwhite in a tree, a Cattle Egret with a sick hairdo, and finally, sooo far away, the Flamingos!

While I was there I knew I wanted to slide over to Arkansas to photograph my favorite bird, the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher. A 3 hour car ride later and I found a nesting pair. Absolutely stunning birds

I headed back home to Memphis in May to visit family and catch the end of Spring Migration, and it did NOT disappoint. Here I snapped an Indigo Bunting, Tree Swallow, and a Dickcissel!

A storm had moved through a few days before, meaning I caught the tail end of a "fallout" phenomenon, in which weak, tired migratory birds go to ground as soon as they sight it, which was the Fort Morgan area! There were Orchard Orioles, Indigo Buntings, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, Scarlet Tanagers etc

For my birthday I spent a few days at Fort Morgan in Alabama, one of the peak areas for Gulf Coast bird migration. There was a rare female Yellow-headed Blackbird and she loved to show off. Some of my best photos of the year to me.

I don’t talk a lot about it but I’ve been making an effort to read more over the last year. I’m proud to say I smashed my 2025 reading goal of 30 books (will finish with 35). Nothing close to what I could do as a kid, but adults are busier lol. For 2026 I’ll shoot for 40, starting with this:
