This week we deployed a mobile fire camera, with it's own solar power and satellite internet system, for a second view point of the Cottonwood Peak Fire. We call this a COW for "Communication on Wheels." The COW came to our lab on Wednesday, but it's on stand-by ready to be deployed again if needed.

Nevada is prone to natural disasters including earthquakes and wildfires. Make sure you have emergency supplies on hand and an evacuation plan ready. Refresh your emergency supply kits and practice your evacuation plan at least once per year. More tips at www.ready.gov
Info graphic with text that reads:
title: Emergency Preparedness Tips
large text: Do you have an emergency go-bag and an evacuation plan?
Bullet points:
-Emergency go-bags should have at least three days of supplies for each and every person in the household.
-Don’t forget about medications and supplies for pets.
-Make sure everyone in the household knows and practices the evacuation plan, even children.

When is an earthquake an aftershock? After the mainshock, stress released from slip on a the fault can transfer the local area. Aftershocks are part of the “readjustment process” as the stress finds a new equilibrium.
