Reading this reminded me of when our provost, at an all faculty meeting, told us that survey results showing gender pay disparities were 'not real' and that while he was sure some people believed that there was he, as an economist, knew there was no such thing and that people were just being silly.

Well, the weekly ttrpg that I'm running for my kids and their friends is up to 14 PCs so that's....great? Fortunately I told both kids that they have to be assistant GMs to help manage the chaos. I'm fairly certain at this point I have a sizable % of the 4th, 5th and 6th grade GATE classes.

I know I've got followers that have been involved in something like this before, so trying to make connections to ensure this, or something similar, happens.

I worked for the University of California system for almost 20 years total and every year they had us sign a document saying that anthing we produced that was patentable or copyrightable was at least partially theirs. Even in off hours and if you used no UC resources.

I like watching baseball, but it's hard to escape the MLB doomers whining about the declining popularity of baseball. This year my team is in the playoffs. Will I be watching? Nope. Playoff games are on other platforms and are only available on live TV. I wonder why baseball is losing fans?

"How did you get into TTRPGs?" My friend in 3rd grade had been bugging me to play a game he'd played at camp. After resisting for half the school year I finally agreed during a sleep over to try it out I was hooked, and my poor friend had to DM for our friend group as I evangelized the gospel.

Unfortunately I've lost my copy of this but I did get one from a friend I used to game with in the '80s. His grandparents had given it to him. They were big Dallas fans and had bought it thinking it was a board game. But opened it and realized it was not what they were looking for.
