My beautiful mother left this earth eight years ago today. Grief is so strange. Sometimes it feels like she’s been gone forever. Sometimes it feels like I just talked to her yesterday. All I know is that I miss her terribly and think about her every day. Love you, mom.

She had to work until after 7:00 PM, so this is definitely my daughter’s first “grownup” birthday, but we still had a blast. I picked up Venezia for dinner and, as per tradition, watched a movie of her choosing (Beauty and the Beast) and a fine time was had by all. Happy birthday, Peyton!

This has never happened in all our years of flying. We were the only people that stayed on the plane during a layover. Then our pilot got sick and we had to get off the plane. Then we got a new pilot and…are the only people on the plane AGAIN (for now). SUMMER TRAVEL BAYBEEEE!!!

Time was a little tight today so I did a quick walkabout to revisit my favorite spots from the last few days. The people here are unbelievably kind and friendly. If you’re ever in Mexico City, tell Fred at Galiachef hello for me. Nicest guy ever and makes the best Croque Madame I’ve ever had.

We go way back with the Toy Story franchise. Toy Story 2, in particular, was a BIG fave when these guys were wee ones. So, of course, we HAVE to go see the new one. The cynic in me is hoping this isn’t merely a cash grab, but the romantic in me hopes it’s full of laughs, fun and heart.
