The Oregon @ USC game on NBC went long, so only the east coast O&Os (NYC, PHL, Boston, CT, Miami and DC) and Peacock started SNL live at 11:29, the rest of the network had their full local newscasts and got it on delay at around 11:45, which is when CTV started it

Dropping videos was mostly only an Europe/LatAm thing. MTV USA still has a weekly block of music videos, MTV Live, mtvU, MTV Classic & Tr3s are still carrying videos. They also have multiple FAST music video channels globally on Pluto, Samsung & others. Their Asian channels also still have videos.

It's probably because it would be ahead of TNT after the first full screen ad break since the pretaped episodes don't ship with the 2+ minutes of logo filler and TNT determines the break lengths. Canada's USA Network simulcasts TNT's feed for the pretaped episodes, with no side by sides.

HBO Max is never launching in Canada as long as WBD still has a working relationship with Bell Media/Crave. AEW is not part of international HBO Max, their deal with WBD is only for the USA. So even if it did launch there, CA viewers would still need TSN for Dynamite and USA or Crave for Collision

Headline News and WNYE were also on Trunk B until they joined the Western LI Optimum lineup in 02. Prior to that, early adopters of iO Digital Cable in Lynbrook who still wanted those remaining Trunk B channels had to use an A/B switch if their TV didn't have separate aux input for the cable box.

Trunk A was finally upgraded to the 80+ channel Optimum lineup in the late 90s. Trunk B's final lineup in 2003 only had 3 channels: Lynbrook High School Access, Malverne Access and WNJN, who were all migrated to A that spring. Lynbrook is still Optimum's only Long Island system that carries NJ PBS.

I wasn't around for Adams-Russell. After Cablevision tookover in 87, A became a mirror of their Woodbury lineup, B had Lynbrook only channels like Headline News, TLC & C-SPAN2. A was limited to 2-41 until the late 90s, so B is where they added Comedy Central, Cartoon Network, CourtTV, BET & SciFi.

Cablevision's Lynbrook system used it, they inherited it from Adams-Russell. Initially B had newer channels, full time versions of channels that time shared on A, and additional locals like WNYE, WNYC, WNJM and WLIG. It was phased out in 2002 when A was upgraded to match the rest of Western LI

MTV Jams and VH1 Soul became BET Jams and BET Soul back in 2015, MTV Hits became Nick Music back in 2016, with mostly the same pop music. In addition to the decade blocks, MTV Classic has a variety of genre specific blocks, including Yo! Hip-Hop Mix that air at various times during the week.

This is only for their pan-regional feeds. The US channels MTV Classic, mtvU, MTV Live, Nick Music, CMT Music, BET Jams and BET Soul are not shutting down. Most of the international main MTV channels still air music videos. Also, this was first announced back in July before the Skydance takeover.
