#MedievalSky This from the New York Times, minutes ago: "Has plague ever been used as a bioweapon? Maybe — but it’s been a while. In the 14th century, according to one account, a Mongol army catapulted plague-infested bodies into the Crimean city of Caffa." Please don't let this nonsense persist!

Your work was very useful in helping me think about this plague outbreak!

Indeed. And just a few years later, a much weaker provincial government was unable to cope with what I argue was the single largest and deadliest outbreak of the entire third plague pandemic in Khotan, Xinjiang, an event completely forgotten today. Article should be out in Modern Asian Studies soon.

I haven't been on social media for a while, but I wanted to share some good news with my friends and colleagues. This past March I was hired as an Assistant Research Fellow at 中研院's Institute of History and Philology. If anyone is passing through Taipei in the coming forever, please get in touch!
