Bras for Girls, one of The Kwek Society's amazing partners, joined in on supporting Ojo Encino Day School in NM by sending sports bras! Bras for Girls is a NGO that distributes sports bras & breast development ed materials to students. Since 2021, they've delivered ~12K bras to our partner schools!

Our partners at the Wabeno Area School District made sure their students are stocked for the year! We sent over moon time & Auntie bags, plus extra period care to make sure students aren't worrying about where their next pad or tampon will come from. It's a step forward in ending period poverty!

ICYMI: Pennsylvania allocated another $3M to providing free period care in public schools. Since 2024, the state has allocated now $9M to ending period poverty in public schools, improving health equity for menstruators across the state. More states should be like PA!

Period poverty is when someone struggles to purchase or access period products needed to manage menstrual cycles safely and with dignity. 1/4 students in the US struggle with period poverty, with Indigenous students disproportionally affected. We must stop the cycle and end period poverty for all.

For 4 days, a Diné kwe (young woman) may celebrate her 1st moon time (period), with traditional singing, praying, telling stories, running, & helping her community. Among her tasks, she grinds corn & bakes it into a large cake called an alkaan. On the final day, she runs towards the sun as it rises.

Louisiana is the newest state that The Kwek Society has added to our service footprint! In March, we started serving 35 Indigenous students and their peers at Chitimacha Tribal School in Jeanerette, LA, with a variety of high quality period products—and we look forward to future expansion!
