Can't remember their kit at the time but do remember burgundy becoming the University colour when we switched from being a Poly to a Uni in 92. Anyway, that ride with GVA must have been incredible.

Think I've shared before. We were with Impsport, like many clubs at the time. The rear disc was one of four the club had. Final year we got some Bora front wheels. Simon Bray went on to become National RR Champion, Chris Myhill won more TTs and hill climbs I can remember. I was slow. Great days

Amazing! Still can't get used to that Sheffield Hallam kit though even if it's far more aligned with university colours. If a friend had his entry accepted for Monsal Head, he said he plans on wearing the early 90's design kit on the day.

What upsets me most with the Man City case is similar to doping cases and any case of cheating that's let go or missed. Their players and fans lived something special in those moments and denied others who possibly deserved that feeling more because they played by the rules.

Didn't know that! Lack of interest from the regulators or industry influence? My 1st helmet early 90's was Snell certified. IIRC that was already above standards at the time? Just checked my latest helmet & it's both CE marked and UKCA marked. Don't get me started on the UKCA mark debacle... 🤣

Just a quick glance and you're brave! Strasbourg-Lyon is such frustrating trip as you know it could be faster. Irony is I could pick you up in Offenbourg, have a coffee at ours then likely drop you off in Colmar in time. I wish things were easier by train.

Alsace missed the chance to form a collecivité Bas-Rhin/Haut-Rhin years ago which, with foresight, might have potentially avoided being part of the Grand Est. I have little sympathy for those complaining about being part of the Grand Est... That's a discussion for if we ever meet up in Strasbourg 😀

Don't get me started on the RER and the four letter codes! 🤣 I did my Erasmus in Brussels in 1995 and it was easier/similar price to get to Lille via the Eurostar rather than the regional line.

I think it was the Government that pulled out but I'll ask my daughter as she just started working for the region. Will be interesting if Alsace does separate from Grand Est (v long story) what happens next.

Guess we're spoiled in Alsace, especially if Strasbourg is your start/end point. SNCF and cross border trains is definitely a mess and I remember the pain of Strasbourg-Paris before the LGV-Est.

I'd agree that non-TGV intercity trains are poor especially cross country, but TERs, at least in Alsace are brilliant. With carte fluo reductions we hardly drive into Strasbourg anymore. Regular service, clean, modern plus plenty of bike space in the train or free car parking at the stations.
