DFW airport--Quick stop over on my way to Chapman University to speak for a couple of days.I’m staying at an “Inn” in Chapman— which I HATE— but its the only place walking distance to campus (when I do these trips give me a faceless Hilton with a good bar and frozen French fries— I HATE “character”!

Iberian flight Madrid to JFK – I'm not gonna get into Airline Food reviews because there's a lot of that around – however they did serve a pretty fantastic Alberino. Unfortunately, everyone else thought so too, and they ran out very very quickly are now serving an undrinkable rioja

Iberian lounge Madrid. Lounge is long and skinny. I saw folks walking around with glasses of wine, but I couldn't see where they were getting them from. Turns out it was this contraption –way in the back. Problem is the wines aren't cold. I tasted an Alberino that would've been fantastic if chilled.

Iberian lounge Madrid airport--they just switched over to lunch service. This is the most complicated thing at the lounge. The rest of the fare is a lot of croquettes and tortilla. Sandwich actually isn't bad although it's a tad gummy.

Iberian lounge Madrid – one hour layover! It's 11 AM here and I am impressed that there are three white wines that are probably not awful. After flying all night, I'm not sure I can taste them quite yet… But if I were going to, I would probably have the Verdejo.

Flying Iberia to San Sebastian – this is the Greenwich lounge at JFK! A quaffable cotes de Rhône rose. Lounge is as crowded as I have ever seen it.

Plaza premium lounge at YYZ. I am sipping a dreadful Sauvignon blanc. The front desk is besieged by people struggling to get into this lounge. God knows why. Pam says it's the worst lounge she's ever been to – but clearly she has never been to Transylvania. Carb lovers heaven!

Delta lounge JFK – A gates. The only good thing about my flight being delayed two hours is I get to see the breakfast to lunch transition. This is the most exotic thing in the lounge. Not sure I can bring myself to eat it though.

Delta lounge JFK. Rainy morning, on my way to Toronto. I am in the lounge near the A gates--smaller and much quieter than it's B Gate brother. The food offerings are meager--happily the wine is the same.

British Airways lounge – Edinburgh airport. This is the fairly mediocre white wine on offer. I just ate a bacon sandwich on a very soft white roll with a ton of brown sauce, which might be one of my favorite things in the world.

MXP Monteverdi lounge. These are the two white wines on offer – they taste pretty much identical, slightly sour Sauvignon Blanc. But the big shock of this airport is that you're allowed to take 2 L of liquids through security! Which means if I'd known, I could've taken my own wine through!

AAlounge terminal 8 JFK. This is the Greenwich lounge. It is ranked 3rd after chelsea and SoHo – but I like it the best because it has the most light. It has this not great rosé – last time I was here it was a whispering angel. They also have two Savignon blancs and a Chardonnay.

Off to Portugal for a Film Festival – told a few hours ago that our entire airplane got downgraded! we are allowed lounge access – thank God –so this is the Air France lounge at JFK terminal 1. This is the rosé on offer.not bad. And it is my favorite kind of Serve, which is Self.
