Gas at $4.23/gal costs the average commuter $6.96/day on a 45-mile round trip. Less than one hour of work at minimum wage. Gay would have to be $35/gal to not be profitable at $7.25/hr minimum wage. So gas alone won’t stop you from going in. But that framing misses the whole picture.
