Ok multiple John Hartford tunes into Guinevere means my trip into Giant has to wait longer. #TBTXPN #CSNY

The Wood Brothers are a band I’ve only seen once that I need to see again and again and again. #TBTXPN

The Indigo Girls cover of Uncle John’s Band is easily one of the best covers of any Grateful Dead tune. #TBTXPN

The System’s You Are in My System is fantastic, but Robert Palmer’s cover took it to another level. #XPNTBT

Patti Smith belting out “People Have the Power” is the perfect way to put a ribbon on this #XPNCountdown. Thanks, Mike V!

Hearing I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight reminds me I should’ve voted for Robert Palmer’s fantastic cover of Mercy Mercy Me/I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight medley from his album around 1990. It’s awesome if you haven’t heard it. There’s a YouTube of him doing it on The Arsenio Hall Show. #XPNCountdown

A million thank you’s to the person who voted for the great Todd Snider! Losing him and Raul Malo in such a short time and way, way too young has been brutal. #XPNCountdown

With all the Neil Young fans voting in the #XPNCountdown, I am surprised this great cover of Heart of Gold didn’t get more love.

I think I heard this version of Deacon Blues in a hotel elevator once. I can’t be held accountable with what I post at 6:45 with less than one cup of coffee in me. #XPNCountdown

I had actually thought "I Fought the Law" which was the last #11 on my list had missed the countdown. What was I thinking? #XPNCountdown

Gotta take the good (great actually) that we probably didn't deserve (Patti) with the bad (Bruce). As Billy Joel once penned. It's either sadness or euphoria. 🙃 #XPNCountdown

Easily my #1. I thought it would be a top 25. And, yes, I do like it way more than the Stones, but had no idea it wasn't their tune. Oh, Harriet's amazing voice! #WildHorses #TheSundays #XPNCountdown

Hey @rahrahraina.bsky.social, as per your request, I’ve got 5 picked including 3 from 43-54 and expect The Sundays and Junkies still to go. 2-4 pm during the #XPNCountdown was a blast with you and @kallao.bsky.social! Love that you aren’t looking ahead. So cool!

I only wish I had found out 25 years after buying Flood that Particle Man was also a cover like I did with Istanbul. No such luck. Why it isn't is nobody's business but the Turks! Hallelujah! #XPNCountdown

2026 XPN Countdown - 885 Greatest Versions of Hallelujah. It's a good song, but they all sound the same (for the most part). And, yes, Buckley's cover is epic. #XPNCountdown (Signing off BSKY and entering witness protection. Told my wife to keep the #XPN sustaining membership going...lol)

I've still never heard Vanilla Fudge's cover of "You Keep Me Hangin' On" and will have to check it out as I missed it. I did however vote at #10 Kim Wilde's version, which I love and reminds of a fun spring/summer of 1985, so I put it on over other #11's that were more worthy. 🤫 #XPNCountdown

So I was in the shower (TMI?) & I heard the first notes of The Final Countdown and I laughed to where I ended up with soap in my mouth. Who wasn’t playing air guitar during the solo? Saw Europe open for Def Leppard at Allentown Fairgrounds decades ago and they actually were good. #XPNCountdown.

Never even contemplated Sailing Shoes-> Hey Julia -> Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley so I deserve to miss all but the last two minutes of Sally. The album "Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley" rates as my all time best debut album. An absolute tour de force! #XPNCountdown

Now that my hour+ commute is over, loved Long Black Veil from Listener Supported. DMB's best version, IMHO, was 9.4.00 in Nashville with Emmylou Harris guest on vocals & Bela Fleck on banjo. An all-time great DMB show that's worth a listen. Type-O Negative won the drive, however! #XPNCountdown

Del Yeah!!!! Love this cover and have no idea why it wasn’t on my list because I love it that much. Watch the YouTube video of this a lot! I guess I just thought it wouldn’t make it so I put just one bluegrass cover on my list. #XPNCountdown

The 2nd half of the #XPNCountdown has been matching the Eagles’ recent dud 2nd halves. What was that Jefferson Airplane cover of Wooden Ships? Love The Dead Kennedy’s, but yikes! And oh my The Lumineers butchering The Cure. Emmylou doing Pancho & Lefty is hopefully starting the comeback!

Rodrigo Y Gabriela are pure fire! Kudos to those who voted for this!! Missed their earlier appearance on the #XPNCountdown. Only saw them once, but it was at Red Rocks opening for Yonder Mountain String Band back in 2007. Need to see them again AND get back to the most amazing venue on the planet!
