I have never seen this level of entitled stan-like behavior over someone having a negative opinion over a thing they like outside of Barbz or Swifties. Thin skin from people venerating a movie whose supposed message is “be nice :)”

one of the more useful things from "woke 1" was the idea that we shouldn't center a discussion of feminist theory around the feelings of men. this doesn't mean literal misandry, but it does mean allowing men to be uncomfortable and not letting them clog up feminism w/ concern trolling.

Put me down as Resident Evil agnostic. A fine adaptation of the franchise and notable step forward in translating the immersive experience of gaming to film. Too bad Cregger left the joke machine on the fritz.

I do love how Benny Safdie just does The Count voice the entire time and everyone has to pretend they’re not hearing a Muppet talk about making the hydrogen bomb.

No movie is truly politically uncomplicated, especially one that invites and hinges so much on gender politics as Barbie.

Nicole “loose critic” Veneto @kuntsuragi.bsky.social · 02/09/2026
Strongly disagree with this manner of thinking re: IP movies. Barbie’s style of self-effacing humor, of making the joke about itself as a commercial product before the audience can, is a very political maneuver that obfuscates the primary role capitalism and consumerism play in a movie like this!

I don’t know how you can conclude that Camp Miasma is an uncritical endorsement of “let people enjoy things XD” telling you it’s good and healthy to stay comfortably cocooned and emotionally stunted within fictional worlds unless you disregard both the ending and the entire thesis of TV Glow.

No you’re all actually just mean, nasty, and intensely parasocial losers sublimating your own inability to be creative or offer anything resembling intelligent thought into degrading other people online. Real noxious combination of jealousy and brainrotted lack of empathy.

And their line of defense for spreading nasty rumors that ran a trans director off the platform is that it’s all just a “joke”; Jane is rich and famous and successful and we are just smol beans with smaller follower counts so don’t you dare sic an angry mob on us! Cry bully behavior.

@kuntsuragi.bsky.social welcomes Nicolas Winding Refn's #HerPrivateHell in all its somnambulistic glory. This baffling, vibe‑driven film trades narrative for fetish—and asks whether you still care what the critics think. artsfuse.org/332409/film-...

Baffling at first glance considering how little you’re given in the way of narrative on top of the total unreality of it all. But you gotta surrender to the vibe and take everything on the level of pure, sensorial emotion. You’re all gonna love this in five years.

Review to come, but so many people got filtered by Her Private Hell because they made the mistake of interpreting it as a literal narrative and not as an aesthetized, psychosexual dreamscape of a character’s rampant daddy issues. You’re not getting Drive-era Refn back. Here’s The Leather Man!

I offer a soft defense of a movie I found overall enjoyable but part and parcel to larger problems like chaining Spider-Man to the multiverse, Oops! All Easter Eggs, cynical representation politics, and the systemic exploitation of animators. More thoughts here: boxd.it/ffxYRv

A ★★★ review of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023)
I’m on thin ice with the Lord and Miller crowd so let me lead with the positives — in all likelihood I’m going to be the one defending this movie on the podcast. The animation* is undeniably excellent...

Whether you like the film or not, The Odyssey is a resounding success for Performative Male Reading. The only way that we’re undoing the literacy crisis is when every Adult male is carrying at least 2 soon to be a major motion picture novels around in their degendered canvas tote purse
