The thing is, your caveman brain is good at making sure people stay away from contagions and poisons most of the time, but it's also notably flawed, like being unable to distinguish between genetic illnesses and viral illnesses, and not being able to tell the difference between "bitter thing that will kill you" and "bitter thing that will heal you."

You can't just rely on gut feelings all the time like this. You have to actually make the effort to learn the real causes behind things, and to learn to tell the difference between what's actually dangerous and what might appear dangerous but isn't. Relying on your caveman brain is dangerous and ultimately a way to avoid actual learning and critical thinking. When you choose to just go with the caveman brain, you choose to be lazy and irresponsible.'

I love having to change my thesis again. I love finding out that the project I have dedicated the past year to and spent my own money on things for has turned out to be unfeasible. I love the inaccessibility of grad school, in spite of the illusions.
