@danyork Likewise! Radio is what got me into engineering, so I’m enjoying going back to my roots. I’m also enjoying doing embedded development and PCB design which I also did in my first jobs out of college. You are also doing great things these days - keep it up! 👍🏻

RE: mastodon.social/@danyork/1159066152… Happy 40th to the #IETF! I enjoyed 15 years of my career with the IETF, traveling the world, making friends, publishing Internet-Drafts and RFCs. 😁

@tom makes sense to me! 😁 I’ve been working on a software update for the CubeSatSim to improve the simulated telemetry generation, and add 10 different simulated failures that can be detected by telemetry analysis. I’ve also been building 2U versions with bigger solar panels too.

@tom Yes, the JST connectors J6 or J7 will work as a 5V supply instead of the battery.

@tom I’ve made modifications to your code to add back the gyro and acceleration readings. If you could submit your code as a Pull Request in GitHub, I can merge it and add my changes. Thanks again for sharing this! 😁

@tom Wow, that’s a useful board you designed! 👍🏻 I tried some I2S microphone boards in place of the sound card but I couldn’t get any to work properly with the Pi Zero 2. Adafruit has a new one I should try sometime. Upgrading to the v2.1 software should fix it as there was a bug in the C2C […]

That’s great @tom! You are following these steps to upgrade your beta #CubeSatSim ? github.com/alanbjohnston/CubeSatSim… One issue you may run into with another sound card is the audio level. We use the receiver audio directly from the FM transceiver module […]

Had a mild-but-annoying cold all weekend, but worked on some projects. My ‘connect your Morse Key to Discord’ boards are now with JLCPCB for assembly. And I designed a servo controlled ‘analog dial gauge’ for the CubeSatSim project.
A grey 3d printed square snaking style gauge with no value indications on a workbench. A messy protoboard layout of a Morse key related project with cables hanging off it.

@ku2y Hi! I've been playing with a CubeSatSim that the RSGB have lent me. It's been rather a lot of fun so far. Do you know of anything that can decode the BSPK telemetry that isn't FoxTelem? I'd ideally like to hook it up to MQTT so I can build a visualiser for it. Also I've wired up the INT […]

@tom Glad you are enjoying the #CubeSatSim! I’m not aware of a general BPSK decoder, although I’m sure you could make one with #GnuRadio. I have an experimental BPSK decoder for the FunCube mode which runs on the Raspberry Pi with the FCD FunCube Dongle if you want to try that out. To try the […]

@wollman We were in Montreal last year and Boston last week. All your points are spot on accurate! We were shocked at the lack of organization and planning for entry and exit from TD Garden. It was almost as if they had never handled a large event before. Very strange!

@jlin Hi, depends on the board. If it has the same I2C address and pinout, it would drip right in. Which parts were you having trouble finding? They all show available to me.

The story begins with parts and printing the frame for my first attempt at the AMSAT CubeSatSim #cubesatsim #AMSAT #3dprint
4 grey plastic 3d printed square frames against a wood table background, each about the size of a saucer. The 4 frames are the top/bottom, left, right sides of my cubesatsim project. I haven't removed the scaffolding yet, so it still has some extraneous bits I need to remove/clean up.
