KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

Done and dusted- “Trial by Fire” now has prints ready to go for the Crafts from the Crypt Fair at the Saanich Fairgrounds this weekend! More new stuff (including lil felted beasties) will be there- plus a special “nothing’s scarier than revisiting your older art” sale…💀

The pocket squonks return! This weekend, the beasties and I shall journey to the Coombs Medieval Fall Faire! Come on down and say hello- loads of amazing vendors, craftspeople, artists, artisans, creators, and costumed shenanigans!

First day of Sails and Sagas is a wrap! One more day to go! Felted beasties have garnered a fair bit of attention, and in keen to see what catches people’s eyes on Sunday… Lucked out with fair weather and really great music!

New stuff!! New prints of my wee lad Oliver the Squonk, new illustration from the Tales of Ænim, and a pile of lil woolly beasties! It’s an outdoor show this time: Sails & Sagas, this weekend in Iroquois Park, Sidney. That’s right- the paper and wool artist will be…outside.

I’m actually not dead….. not completely at least. I’ve been struggling with some rather awful health issues for going on 7 months now, and though I’ve managed to get some care, I’m in medical system limbo until I spontaneously either heal or catch on fire or something.

150

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 04/06/2026

Not gonna lie- I am in ROUGH shape… but I managed to pull a fair bit together anyway, so what’s left of me will be showing up in style at the Van Island FanCon!

“From Hell’s heart, I stab at thee!” New “pocket squonks” on the go…..

071

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 10/04/2026

Sneak peek of a new “experiment”… Hopefully she’ll be done and ready for Nanaimo Curious ComiCon on May 2….

042

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 26/03/2026

Ok, so… bear with me here… I’m bringing some new little surprises along to the Faerie & Fantasy Faire this weekend. Have you ever just needed….a pocket squonk? Allow me to introduce “Oliver the Squonk”, now in handy, smol, squishable form! There are more pocket monsters to come…

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 09/03/2026

Welph, I’m back at’er- trying to catch up on internet-based artist stuff after months of finding online existence just…..*shudder*…. So yes- back in person, and with a few new goodies to share 💛

051

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 21/02/2026

I figured it was time for a “proof of life” check in. I had an afternoon off from the attention-demanding furry kitchen demon (pictured here wondering why I’d be doing anything with my time other than playing in the yard), so I checked into an old favourite of mine- Drip Coffee in Nanaimo.

It’s been a weird couple of days, so…yeah. Some pain management, some commission work, more pain management, and…. a new idea?

041

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 06/01/2026

YOOOO!! Check out this amazing GM screen print of my original artwork of weird beasties! LOOKATIT!! 😍😆 The texture is so wild- and the gradations still read so well from the graphite originals! Even Oliver looks impressed!

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 19/12/2025

Ever have just…one of those months? I’m pulling through week FIVE of a respiratory infection that decided to go hardcore sinusitis (complete with ocular nerve impingement and crippling pain), and now my poor house coyote has had to get dental surgery when we’d expected a totally normal checkup. 😒

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 19/11/2025

It’s my last event of the year- good ol’ Nanaimo ArtWalk! I’ll be haunting the atrium of the Harbourfront Library once again, along with a couple of other fantastic artists, this Saturday and Sunday. And I have a new illustration from my “Tales From Ænim” to showcase!

1123

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 11/11/2025

Just me again, thriving in a chaos of my own making. Next and FINAL show of the year is coming up: Nanaimo’s very own 2025 ArtWalk! I’ll be setting up shop in the Harbourfront Library, so ye all can come find me there and say hello! Nov 22/23…..

Affogato break for me and my table manager “Ty-Ty”. We got a WHOLE CORNER! Only a couple of hours left at the Haunted Holiday Market- but we’re loving the vibes!

050

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 31/10/2025

Getting my Christmas/Halloween mashup spirit on! Hope you can come say hello! Wellington Hall, Nanaimo ~~~

020

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 27/10/2025

Hot on the heels of the Victoria Halloween Markets, comes the Haunted Holiday Market, back on my home turf in Nanaimo! Hoping to have a couple more “felt mini squonks” along for the ride this time too, so there’s another excuse for you to swing by and say hello! 😉

151

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 26/10/2025

All set up in my little nook at the Halloween YYJ show in Victoria! Had a little time yesterday to show Oliver the Squonk around town, between downpours, and sweetened the deal with matcha and ganache. Today’s day two- last chance to come say hi before we vanish back home….

130

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 22/10/2025

Next Halloween show is rolling up! Back to Victoria, BC this weekend for Halloween Market YYJ! @halloweenmarketyyj.bsky.social Some new merch, some new projects, aaand I’m currently a pain-addled baggie of human soup, so we’ll see how long I last 🫠

041

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 11/10/2025

All set up and ready to rock! This place is already so beautiful, but now we get to ghoul it up! Bonus! Come down for a sneak peek of the first ever squishy version of Oliver the Squonk! Perhaps even more to come?…. 😉

050

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 03/10/2025

It’s been a crushing last couple of weeks, and I’m now essentially a corpse, animated through the power of coffee, necessity, and spite… BUT! More importantly! I’m back in Victoria for the Crafts from the Crypt Fair!

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 22/09/2025

Some days, it just be like that… Don’t forget to unplug and go breathe the outside air if ye can 🩵

Sometimes I like to ramble. And sometimes I decide to actually jot down my thoughts on the questions I keep getting from other artists at shows and workshops. SO! This one’s for my fair friends who’re looking for good references and inspiration! www.patreon.com/posts/references-ak…

First event in a couple of months is coming up quickly! I have a couple little newbies being shipped, but the most fun will be playing with my ever changing setup. If you’re in Nanaimo this Saturday, dip in and say hello (and watch the chaos!)…

153

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 21/08/2025

The smoke has finally eased off at least, though the smell lightly lingers… It’s been an awkward last couple of months, but my next show is fast approaching, so I’m pulling things together once more.

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 13/08/2025

After getting most of my to-do list done today, I realized just how overheated I’d become in the house, and after some relaxing creature-doodling, the house coyote demanded time in the shade, water, wind.

Ahh the familiar feeling of needing a pencil extender… Also, why are the “blackest blacks” reserved for paint?

I’ve been wrestling down the roiling anger and frustration by turning my attention more to my community, and to outward environmental stimuli that demonstrate calm, love, and resilience. A perfectly coiling creeping vine in my garden. A wide, calm, and open summer sky. My snoozing house-coyote.

The monsters of my world building project “Ænim” don’t just have humans to contend with- there is a healthy population of invasive Earth animals as well, and I’m looking forward to adding their stories to the growing pile for my ongoing collection…

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 17/06/2025

Needed to really dig into something, so I pulled an original creatures sketch scan out of mothballs, and decided to start sketching up a fresher paintover….

051

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 04/06/2025

Welph…I decided to dig in and add elements. Because…bonus puppies. The picking away grinds on…..

2405

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 02/06/2025

Managed to sneak off to a fantastic local coffee shop this weekend, and dig into an older sketch I’d left buried in a sketchbook…

Big plans are rolling for my entire display/inventory/everything else… but I’m starting small this week, and brightening up my framed display prints. We’ll see how they look this Saturday!

051

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 07/05/2025

Sudden change in plans = I’ll be back out with my creatures in Cedar on the 17th! So from decompression from Curious ComiCon, to back into prep mode- this time, outsiiiiiide! Ooooooo! 😳🫠 But first, some recharge time with my four footed Human Resources manager…..

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 06/05/2025

……what? It’s been a long-ass day, OK?….

Just a little doodle before I jump back into my regular workflow.

I’m back, baby- good ol’Curious ComiCon! Got some newbies to share too, so come say hi if you’re in the area, yeah?

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 26/04/2025

Aahhh Victoria construction! 😭😱🪦 Yeah, I’m not sure how I’m still even alive y’all. But we’re loaded in for this weekend’s show at Market Square in Victoria! Come on down and see which version of me survived Friday’s misadventures… *pictured: show info, plus my mental state before and after arrival*

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 19/04/2025

My head has been full of metamorphosis lately, leaving me playing with ideas… that said, shows come around, so I’m back to prep as well…

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 14/04/2025

Good lordy do I actually hate making reels, y’all 😆 Sigh…. I actually dislike posting online in all its forms right now, but it does suck less here? So hey- happy Monday my bsky-buddies! I hope you all find something to smile about today 🩵 www.instagram.com/reel/DIcKSc7...

Just…. Working and vibing. Another original creature getting a re-fab. It’s cool, grey, damp, and “meh” outside, and I’ve been feeling much the same. So it’s time to take that energy and transmute it….

KSimArtist @ksimartist.bsky.social · 30/03/2025

Oliver is feeling a bit suspicious and under-caffeinated currently… Some shows be like that.
