There are 11 federal holidays (12 in the DC area for Inauguration Day). Federal employees get these 11 days off. A lot of private sector employees don't get all 11. And this senile old fart who makes money by stealing and grifting thinks less than 1 day a month is too many.

List of federal employees' holidays: New Year's Day, MLK, Washington's bday, Memorial Day, Juneteeth, 4th of July, Labor Day, Columbus Day, veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and sometimes Inauguration Day.

I take an annual solo vacation, just because why not. Usually I try to find a bar that's close to my hotel to end my nights. Mostly I look for proximity and good vibes. Found a place here that checks those boxes, is mostly a locals place, and used to have my maiden name on the front door.

Apropos of nobody at all taking a long flight today... I attended DVT Awareness Night at Shea Stadium years ago and learned that long flights taken by people at high risk of cardiovascular disease can lead to blood clots forming in the legs. These can break free, travel to the brain, and be fatal.

Well. My grampas were partners on the local police force. Then one became a funeral director and the town (volunteer) fire chief, simultaneously. Like 10 years after he died, my gramma took up with his best friend who was a retired plumber. I knew him better than that grampa so I'm including him.
