Kinda think we've been in one since Trump came in with all his emoluments in term one and there was no way to litigate that.

A Few of My Conundrums
My friend just told me that since we can die anytime, if there’s anything we want to do with our lives, we had better get on it. Just the thought of that makes me so tired I need a nap. The chief sorr...

I'm 3/4 of the way through my first Star Trek watch project and I'm still gobsmacked at what a singularly bad episode this was.

He's asking about possibly publicly posting that a photo she posted is 'cute'. If that is considered sex pest behavior, it's impossible to imagine what kind of flirting would be considered ok.

0. But at the age of 23, it wouldn't be unusual for someone to be attracted to an 18 yo, and based on looks alone you can't tell if they're 18 or younger. So checking in that context seems fine, AFAIK there are no other examples that indicate a pattern of bade behavior.

I'm not sure how this qualifies as "sex pest." He checked to see if the person was underage, when they said they were 16, he immediately backed off.

I think that today it is possible for people to form independent media organizations like the Bulwark that are free from dominance by a party. And I think they would be very surprised to here that they are not in exile, because they have lost many friends over their commitment to democracy.

This argument, that there was no takeover of the Republican party, because at bottom there is nothing to distinguish Jeb Bush from Donald Trump, is I think a night where all cows are brown. Come on. I would trade 2 terms of Jeb for 2 terms of Trump any day of the week.

Well I think their offerings should be considered on their merits, not dismissed out of hand. Sarah Longwell's offerings for strategic communications are based on extensive focus group research which as far as I know is not being done by anyone on the left.

Well for instance they often bring up Reagan's final speech which is very pro immigrant. So there is a contrast there -- one can see how the party has moved towards nativism away from something that was much more pluralistic.

"Loudly speaking against the entire Republican Party" is exactly what I hear every day on the Bulwark. Give it a listen. Of course, as political operatives, they consider politics the art of the possible, so they don't spend much time critiquing the deeper and more intractable conditions.

Counterpoint they bravely defied their own party and went into exile to be harshed on by practically everyone because they care about democracy.

I suppose we have to prepare ourselves for the day when the last Star Trek episode or movie airs. We won't even know when it is. And it will likely be an abrupt ending to a series that gets canceled. 🤷‍♂️
