When you reach a certain age (70 in my case), your kids often take the car keys away because you become an erratic, dangerous driver. In our case, they took away our Birkenstocks after my wife tripped and broke her hand in multiple places. Guess we are now erratic, dangerous pedestrians.

First dumpster filled with 26 years of lab notebooks, old autorad films, and lab supply catalogs. Purging the laboratory of my history and ancient equipment is number one of the many steps moving towards my retirement in March. I will keep doing research as Professor Emeritus.

At night, I really can't see our all black kitten, Poppy, but I can find her by locating the patch of ultra-black space against the uniform dark background. She is the little "black hole" in the room absorbing all the light.
