@werahobhouse.bsky.social insisted she answered questions by HK immigration officers, unlike what HK accused her of. She said her son conducts research on Buddhism in HK, which is actually funded by the HK gov. “For him, I think it was in many ways a bigger wake-up call than for me.”

The resident who got the letter gave it to her MP Joshua Reynolds in Maidenhead. Reynolds then told Lau, who's in Taiwan at the moment. Lau said she was shocked, she believes it's an organised effort encouraging "bounty hunters".

A Mandarin-speaking woman at the Chinese embassy inquiry was suspected of taking pictures of reporters. When confronted, she denied it & said she would "only take photos of VOA & RFA journalists" - a very specific claim. We were both watching online today so she didn't get any.
