I played it for the first time earlier this year and it's just got such a perfect sense of atmosphere and vibe. I was really pleased by how classy and sophisticated the OST felt especially. The type of game you can picture playing while sipping a glass of fine wine and going "hmmmmmmm, yes, I see."

#48 - POKEMON BRILLIANT DIAMOND: 7/10 Even a "bad" Pokemon game is a really comfy time tbh. Really happy with the team I chose and the structure of Sinnoh is cool. The visuals are kinda cheeks though and the OST arrangements are kinda dull but like, idk Pokemon is just so chill to flow through.

#47 - ACE COMBAT 4 SHATTERED SKIES: 8.5/10 Aside from some annoying checkpointing and the repetition of the score attack missions this game is kinda straight gas the whole way through. Once you understand the controls and flow of combat the dogfights are beyond exhilarating, backed with a geart OST

#46 - MIRROR'S EDGE CATALYST: 6.5/10 When this game remembers what Mirror's Edge is and what it should be it still flows really well and is fun. Unfortunately the open world between missions kills the pacing and the writing, like the first game, is pretty bad. Last mission was cool though.

Y'know I forgot that game existed and also was IdTech, good point. I just remember hearing the horror stories of when EA tried forcing Frostbite onto all their devs and how poorly that worked cause of how specialized the engine was for FPSes, didn't know if it was similar story for IdTech or not.

#45 - XENOGEARS: 7.5/10 It's both Takahashi's most ambitious game and his most compromised. I actually don't mind the structure and pace of disc 2 but it does the biggest issue of the game overall which is the dungeon crawling and navigation feeling poor more obvious. Combat's also a little dry.

Whisper of the Heart wasn't directed by Miyazaki (he did do the screenplay though) but it's absolutely my favorite from the Ghibli catalog, almost tied for my favorite film of all time. It has such a strong and grounded emotional core it just always hits like a truck.

#44 - POKÉMON EMERALD (Replay): 8/10 My team was not super well equipped for the Elite 4 but yeah Gen 3 is still tight. I love Hoenn as a region, great dex, lovely OST, the story of the rival teams is fun. Just really rock solid with the only major roadblocks are the lack of QoL with stuff like HMs

#43 - PRAGMATA: 8.5/10 A tiny bit lacking in the visual variety front and a slightly underwhelming OST but man this game whips. I could easily shovel this gameplay loop down my mouth for ages, when you enter the flow state and start getting big damage it's just sublime. Great VA work too.

#42 - MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM: 7.5/10 Holds up pretty good! The romance(s) and treatment of women aren't great most of the time but it's not totally bad. Soundtrack's fun, looks quite nice still, it's good. Anytime Char Aznable isn't on screen you should be asking "where's Char Aznable?"

Now that I've finished my journey through the series, I have formulated my fully ordered tier list on the series, at least the games I have played recently enough to have confidently formed opinions in. Final Fantasy is so cool, I cannot wait for Resonance.

#41 - MARRIAGE TOXIN: 7.5/10 This is fun! The main duo is excellent and the general premise and story allows for a lot of variety. I hope the fights get a bit more varied in future stuff since Gero does most of the legwork in this season but the fights are still cool, it's a solid universe.

#40 - WITCH HAT ATELIER: 9.5/10 Nothing short of awe-inspiring. The animation and story had me constantly floored and the dub performances are all excellent. The emotional core of magic as a metaphor for art and creativity is so striking resonant. That cliffhanger is devious as fuck though

#39 - FRIEREN: BEYOND JOURNEY'S END (SEASON 2): 9/10 Still pretty excellent stuff. A bit more low key than the first season but everything awesome about the show continues to hold true for this season. Love the renewed focus on Stark to and the ED is a genuine all-timer

#38 - FINAL FANTASY 16: 6.5/10 The DLCs are both really solid and when this game wants to fly it soars but so much of the writing especially for its politics/worldbuilding is pretty dire and the villains are all bad and anything that isn't an action stage can feel like padding. But Clive is so good

#37 - FINAL FANTASY XV: 4/10 Shimomura always delivers an excellent OST and I like the main cast but the game is just a mess. Ugly game that looks cheap in a way ill-befitting of mainline FF, the story is overall just bad despite the bros being good, and the last act is miserable. Tabata's Trick.

#36 - FINAL FANTASY TYPE-0 HD: 4/10 I think the core combat is solid enough as are the missions but just about everything else surrounding it is miserable. Bad cast, visuals, structure with the time passing, it just doesn't work. Also it has the same ending every other Tabata game does.

#35 - CASTLEVANIA: SYMPHONY OF THE NIGHT: 8.5/10 The Inverted Castle mucks up the pacing a bit but yay I'm finally in the RPG era and the games are sick. Was surprised by how chill I found the vibes of this game to be? Especially how classy the OST is. Can't wait to play the others, Excellent start

Yeah Ultimecia took me... 3 or 4 tries or so? in my first playthrough of 8 earlier this year which is more than most of the others, and she has specific patterns and stuff that make her hard beyond just "big damage stat check" which is kind of what 3 and 4 fall into

#34 - LIGHTNING RETURNS: FINAL FANTASY 13 (Dropped) This game is kind of just a mess. I was initially worried about the timer system cause those can stress me out so I was not prepared to find everything else about the game to be so thoroughly unenjoyable. Really disappointed and crushed by this.

#33 - CASTLEVANIA BLOODLINES: 7/10 Missing some of the polish and flow from 4 but still a solid time all around. I like the variety and stages and the visuals are quite nice too, sub-weapon improvements are also nice. Enjoyable, nothing crazy.

Would've liked more time with the larger cast to give Serah and Noel more to bounce off of but they're a lot of fun and the more open structure is neat too. Story's a tad weaker overall but Caius is cool

#31 - FINAL FANTASY 13: 9/10 It may feel a bit uneven in spots due to its linearity and pacing but I absolutely love this game man. Hamauzu's music pairs with the next level environmental design into a divine combination with some of my favorite combat in the series. I like the cast a lot too.

#30 - SUPER CASTLEVANIA 4: 8/10 Hey these are starting to get pretty damn good. Just a lot of fun, maybe the Dracula fight was a bit underwhelming but I just felt in the zone for most of this game. All the QoL made the game simply more fun even if it was made easier as a result. Good time.

#29 - FINAL FANTASY XII THE ZODIAC AGE: 8.5/10 Really liked pretty much all of this but lacked the personal X-factor to have me over the moon for it. Would love to spend more time with this cast someday with Revenant Wings and I'd love to see Square experiment with the Gambit system more.

#28 - ICO: 8.5/10 Incredible sense of atmosphere and a brisk consistent sense of progression and movement. The pervasive loneliness and travel despite sharing company with another reminded me a lot of Angel's Egg which I appreciated. Ultimately prefer SOTC but this was still really cool.

#27 - CASTLEVANIA 3: DRACULA'S CURSE: 6/10 Even with them pulling some truly demonic and war criminal shit with the stairs in the level design in this game it is ultimately a tighter experience than 1. Decent boss lineup too except for those fuckass mummies and some good tunes.

#26 - FINAL FANTASY X-2: 8/10 The dressphere and garment grid systems are maybe my favorite iterations of the job system to date, and a great manic feeling ATB as well. I like the story and main themes a good amount, but the structure leads to some uneven pacing and the OST is a beat weak too.

#25 - POKÉMON XD: GALE OF DARKNESS: 7.5/10 I think the game shifting to be more like the mainline titles over the harder tone of Colosseum along with the lower power level does hurt the game but it's still a great time, battles feel and look great and Tawada's score is also great to return to.

#24 - FINAL FANTASY X: 10/10 The best in the series so far no question. Perfectly refined combat, one of the best OSTs you can find and one of the most beautiful and realized worlds and narratives you can get. Razor sharp from every angle, there isn't a hair out of place in this masterpiece.

Colo is Blue, has a cooler and darker palette for a lot of its unique areas compared to XD, not to mention Wes and Rui having very Blue designs. XD is Red cause Michael has red hair and the game is generally a bit on the brighter more energetic/kiddy side.
